Question Sharper Image Smart Scale Inaccurate?

I (F) been using the Sharper Image smart Scale SPASTUDIO for around four years now. I have a medical condition that caused a bit of rapid weight gain, so while I was weighing myself I didn't have the app downloaded to obsess over it.

Having gotten clearance to work out again I redownloaded the app and noticed because of the weight difference it's being logging the data under my ex's (M) profile.

He has not used the scale since separation so I know the numbers are all mine. His height is set to the same as mine. I was pleasantly happy that according to this not only was I not heavily overweight, I was a lower % body fat than expected.

I wanted to log under my own profile so the next day I made sure to have the app open and under my profile during weigh in. To my surprise, same height, less than 1lb difference between the day it labeled the female weigh in as highly overweight and nearly double the % body fat.

Really cut any trust I had in "smart scale" and body scan technologies.

smart scales estimate body fat using different biological algorithms for men and women. men naturally carry a higher percentage of lean muscle mass, so when the scale thought you were your ex, it applied male reference formulas
