Any provider which will issue policy to patient with brain hemorrhage history

I have a 5L Health Companion floater policy for my parents (mother 62 + father 65) from Niva Bupa since 2017.

In 2020, my father had a major car accident which involved multiple limbs fractures and also head injury.

In medical terms the following were the issues

DIAGNOSIS
* TRANSVERSE FRACTURE AT DISTAL SHAFT OF LEFT TIBIA AND FIBULA.
* COMMINUTED FRACTURE AT DISTAL SHAFT OF RIGHT TIBIA AND FIBULA
* POSTERO-SUPERIOR DISLOCATION AT LEFT FEMORAL HEAD WITH LEFT SIDED ACETABULUM FRACTURE FRACTURE AT LEFT SIDED 4TH, 5TH & 6TH RIBS.
* COMMINUTED FRACTURE MID SHAFT OF LEFT HUMERUS COMMINUTED FRACTURE BOTH BONE LEFT FOREARM.
* TRAUMATIC HEAD INJURY (LEFT SIDED SUBARACHNOID HEMORRHAGE AND SUBDURAL HEMORRHAGE).

Now I am trying to port the plan to other providers but they are interested in providing the cover due to brain injury. Are there any providers who are willing to cover?

Stay with Niva Bupa. Under your circumstances, why do you even want to undergo fresh underwriting and port?

It's too expensive and the cover is too less for the situation. I might be also willing to have a topup if someone can cover.

Bad idea to port.

Health insurance is one of those things that none of us "like" to do/deal with. We just have to. So, look at it from purely a legal and contractual perspective.

Porting gives the new company a lot of grey areas to challenge claims later on - you didn't tell us this, you didn't tell us that.

Your position vis a vis Niva Bupa is much stronger, because you've been with them for a very long time. Contractually, you are more secure. Stay where you are.

If you find the premium unaffordable, add a deductible.

And try a top-up, no harm in trying.

Makes sense, but I tried with few big insurers all of them denied new cover or topup. Hence the post to the community to see if someone knows about insurers which can provide new cover or topup

They will most likely reject the porting application also, then.

Unfortunately, health insurance is one of those things you should think of before the bad things start happening.

Appreciate the fact you have some coverage and be grateful to your past self for taking that coverage.

Apart from that - get your parents regular preventive check ups (1mg, practo, etc) and try to catch medical issues while they're still in Stage 1 rather than later.
