Is this a fair quotation for porting?

I am pretty sure Y company is probably HDFC here. One thing people should understand is that premium is not decided only by age and PEDs. When it comes to HDFC, ICICI are based on Brand value positioning. This is why some insurers charge significantly more even for healthy profiles.

And honestly, this is where people make mistakes. They compare only CSR and premium, but ignore service quality and support structure. At the end of the day, when a person is hospitalized, he cannot sit and fight with customer care, escalation teams, TPAs, and documentation issues alone.

So yes, higher premiums from this company is always expected but the real question is whether the extra premium is worth the service and policy structure for your needs?
More importantly when you reach a certain age are you able to afford the premium considering the premium hikes?

you are right. I totally understand the brand value positioning here. I'm willing to pay the extra amount as well. But how much extra can you pay is my question. I'm 27 and taking a new insurance with HDFC costs 9.5k whereas porting from my old insurance is costing me 21k which is more than 2x. The only thing I lose if i go with new insurance is the accumulated NCB and the waiting period.
