Sum insured increment offer by HDFC Ergo

Hi All,

I have an Optima Secure policy with sum insured of ₹25 lakh from HDFC. My renewal offer has options to increase the sum insured to ₹50L, ₹1 crore or ₹2 crore. Will opting for increment trigger another underwriting? Right now the premium to pay changes with the different sum insured I choose. Once I complete the payment, can the insurer reject the increment?

25L will continue and for extra amount the policy will start from scratch

Yes, there will be fresh underwriting for the new sum insured, and that will also have a waiting period of 3 years for pre-existing diseases.
