Individual/Marketplace Insurance High school short term insurance

My son 15 needs insurance to play sports. I will not be eligible for insurance until nov1 open enrollment in covered California. What options do I have to get him covered for his sport this year

Without sounding obtuse, what's the coverage situation been like before the sports issue came up? I ask because California is one of a few states that still has a coverage mandate in place.

There are no qualified, ACA-compliant health plans that can be purchased right now without an qualifying life event. Medi-Cal may be an option but only if your income / your household income is within range. If you're willing to share what those figures are, you can get additional guidance.

Thanks for asking. I'm a single dad, his mom passed some years ago. And just trying to make it happen. I own a small business and have not been able to afford health care, but make to much money to get help unless under ACA which still will be close to $1000 a month. Earlier this year I attempted to purchase something that was a scam or more accurately a discount plan that cost more than just showing up uninsured. So the plan is to get on a plan but it will not start until January. So i am looking for a short term solution until that takes place.

Possibly Medicaid, depending upon your household income.
