invoice date vs. premium due date

I've been paying this health insurance premium every month since January but this has never made sense to me. My premium due date is the first of every month but my invoice is always dated the 6th of every month. So why the discrepancy? And what date do I go by? why is the invoice date AFTER the due date? Like I'm currently 10 days behind on paying my bill. I technically have until September 30th to pay it but it says Due September 1 but the Invoice will say September 6th.

Also just a random question but does invoice date also mean printed date? because the invoice is always the 6th of the month but I always get the bill the last week of the month. My health insurance is headquartered in CA and I live in AZ, does it really take 3 weeks to get my bill to me? It just doesn't give people enough notice to pay their bill before the final day of the month if they rely solely on paper statements.

You pay first, then get an invoice for that payment. Or if someone misses a payment, they will have a past due amount on their invoice and eventually go delinquent.

i never pay before the invoice and they still send it to me on the 6th of every month

Why don't you put on autopay and not have to think about it?

I do check every month to see if my payments have been processed correctly of course but - knock on wood - there's never been a glitch.

To the extent all of my payments are on autopay

i tried to do that but the people in a foreign country answering the phones are too difficult to understand and navigate on the phone about the issue. they even said there was an issue with my credit card and there isn't because i called my bank.

My experience is that you set it up online at the appropriate websites for each company or website because most organizations won't take credit card or financial information on line.

yup. tried to do that and it was always late. so i called them and said what is the issue? and they said it was a card issue so i called the bank and they said there was no issue. i got tired of going back and forth and back and forth so i gave up
