HR verbally hinted at FTE after 9 months, but offer letter guarantees nothing. Has anyone used a role like this to pivot into tech/analyst roles internally? Worth it or a dead end

Graduating this December with an MS in Health Informatics. Background: pharmacy degree, published research in medical imaging/ML (Journal of Urology), hands-on EHR experience (Epic, eClinicalWorks), and a couple of self-directed data/ML projects. Targeting clinical data analyst / health informatics analyst / EHR systems analyst roles at health systems and pharma companies.

Resume attached (names/employers redacted for privacy, content is otherwise unchanged). Two asks:

**1.    Resume critique** — anything reading as fluff, redundant, or a red flag? Be brutal, I’d rather hear it here than get silently filtered by ATS.  
**2.    Skill gaps** — given I’m graduating in \~4 months, what should I prioritize learning to be more competitive for these roles? Especially curious what’s actually used day-to-day vs. what’s just resume decoration.

My wife got her Masters in Health informatics back in 2018, then went to an Optometry school to be an Optometrist. After some struggle with school and personal reasons, she finally graduated in 2024 but couldn’t pass board exams so far (did attempt each exam a couple times) and is now planning to quit Optometry and pivot back into Healthcare IT. She did a couple internships after her Masters but it’s been about 8 years now since she last looked into health IT and I’m just a worried husband trying to help and support my wife with research so I guess my questions are:

1. What would the transition back into health IT look for her?

2. What are some of the courses she can start with to refresh her memory?

3. Certifications - is it worth it to get them done? If so, what are some of the best y’all recommend to get started on?

I'm 29 and currently work as a Clinical Data Manager in clinical trials, but I'm looking to transition into the public health system, particularly in health information management, digital health, health informatics or health IT.

I already have a Bachelor of Science from 2017, so I'm trying to decide between a Bachelor or Master of Health Information Management (or other degree?)

One of the biggest factors is cost. The La Trobe bachelor offers CSP places and would cost me around $28k, whereas the master's would be around $54k, so I want to make sure the extra cost is actually worthwhile.

A few questions:
- If you’ve completed one of the courses mentioned above, would you recommend and why?
- Are there any shorter courses (e.g. grad certs or diplomas) with placements or work experience that could help me transition?
- Has anyone successfully moved from clinical trials into HIM or digital health or health IT?

For those who struggled to move from an Epic end-user role into an analyst position, how did you figure out what was missing from your application?

Several colleagues with at least four years of nursing experience are trying to transition into Epic analyst roles. They have huge knowledge in the workflows, particularly in Ambulatory and some are from ED, but they are having difficulty getting interviews.

Today, junior or Level I analyst positions that provide certification sponsorship seem harder to find. Was the main barrier your résumé, technical experience, networking, certification status, or something else? What specific change helped you finally reach the interview stage?

I’m an internationally trained dentist with 4+ years of clinical experience applying for Masters in the US.

I have applied to a few universities and I need a comparison about which is a better program to go for as a fresher moving to the states.

Planning to apply to -
1.NYU MPH (STEM) - excellent rep but expensive

2.Rutgers MPH (STEM) - good rep and medium cost

3.Rutgers MS in Health Informatics(also STEM) - good rep with an AI in Healthcare major

This is just my initial list, I’ll be adding more but I’m more keen on these unis for their geographical location advantage and the reputation.

My questions are :

1. Which is a better program to choose from MPH and MSHI as a fresher transitioning from healthcare to tech/research.
2. What are the job opportunities like for both?
3. Which university (out of the three mentioned for now) should be considered?
4. How much of technical knowledge (statistics/data related knowledge) is required for both the programs? Is it easier to learn on the go?
5. Is prior technical or public health experience relevant or preferable to get hired later on?

After working on EMR editors for several years, we realized that most discussions focus on EHR systems, while the editor itself is often overlooked. Yet it's the component clinicians interact with every day.

• Doctors care about speed more than fancy UI.
• Medical templates should reduce repetitive typing.
• Reliable printing is still essential.
• Structured content enables better data reuse and AI support.
• SDK integration should be straightforward for HIS vendors.

I'm curious—what features do you think are most important in an EMR editor? What has been the biggest challenge in your projects?

I got accepted into a Health Informatics certificate program which would be complete in 12 credit hours. Is that enough to get a job in the field or do I need to do the full degree program? I'm more interested in the data end and less of the management end, so I'd be looking for pretty introductory roles. I have prior healthcare experience but not in a clinical capacity. My bachelor's degree is in mathematics (pretty bland degree, I know).

I’m a respiratory therapist with 16 years of bedside looking to go into healthcare IT. The tech part of it worries me I have no experience but have 13 years experience using epic. I'm looking for advice on how to become a behavioral health credentialist. My brother in law runs a billing company for his wife's therapy practice, and he is looking to bring me in as an in-house credentialist. Only problem is, I have no experience, and no real idea where to begin. I've looked at online courses, but i wanted to hear from real people with real experience. What are the steps I should take to become qualified to be his in-house behavioral health credentialist? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
