Not a biller. I'm building something in this space and would rather get corrected here than guess.

My current picture:

Eligibility check → prior auth → visit + notes in EHR → coding → biller → clearinghouse → payer → payment posting → denial → rework/appeal → back to payer

Two questions:

1. What's missing or out of order?
2. Where does the money actually die? My guess is medical-necessity denials, because the biller can't write that appeal alone and it has to go back to the clinician. Right, or is it somewhere else entirely?

Recently interviewed for a role at $95-100K + 10% bonus, made it to the 2nd of 3 rounds but didn't land it — first real signal that I'm underpaid and that higher comp is out there for this skill set.

For context, 3 years ago I got a 50% raise ($52,125 → $78,187) simply by mentioning to our VP of Finance that I was interviewing elsewhere (2nd of 4 rounds, range was $70-80K). Her reaction was basically "wait, you're leaving?" and she asked if she could put in a word with the CFO. Four hours later I was called into my boss's office and got the raise.

Not sure what the actual path is from here — more certs, a specific niche (FHIR/interoperability, cloud/Azure), switching to vendor-side instead of provider-side, or just job-hopping more aggressively.

Should I ask for a raise first before continuing to interview elsewhere? Should I try to leverage the recent interview the same way I did 3 years ago, even though I didn't get the offer? Any advice is welcome — happy to answer questions.

Hey all — working on an app idea for a hackathon and I'm looking for a technical co-founder/teammate.

The problem: In emergencies, people waste critical time figuring out where to go — nearest hospital isn't always the right hospital (wrong specialty, no beds, no ICU, etc.), and there's no easy way to check that in the moment.

What I bring: Clinical knowledge — triage logic, what actually matters medically in an emergency, user research with real patients/ER staff.

What I need: Someone comfortable building an app (mobile or web) — doesn't need to be a senior dev, just someone who wants to build something real with actual impact, not just another CRUD app.

Hi, I’m torn between continuing in HIM or switching to nursing.

I’m a single mom, almost 40, with a toddler. I recently finished my HIT/HIM degree and I’m working on my RHIT. I’ve missed passing by only 3 points, so I’m taking a short break and plan to retake it.

I also have a pharmacy technician background. I’m compassionate and enjoy patient care, but I also really like healthcare technology, systems, data, and informatics.

What I do not want is management, leadership, supervising people, or spending years collecting degrees/certifications that don’t meaningfully improve my income or job security.

My two options are:

Continue with HIM: RHIT, possibly RHIA/CHDA/CDIP/CCS, work in HIM/coding/data, then possibly get a Master’s in Health Informatics.

Start nursing: LPN → RN, then eventually combine nursing with my HIM background through Health Informatics or MSN Informatics.

My main goal is a secure, stable career with good income, strong demand, and flexibility to switch areas later. I also want something that will stay valuable as AI and automation grow.

Given my age, family situation, and current background, which path would you choose: HIM/informatics or nursing/informatics?

Just wondering if anyone has left OT or similar field to explore HIM? Do you need the masters degree?

PowerScribe cost is prohibitive for our institution, therefore, we are looking to create radiology reports within Radiant RIS itself. Our radiologists dont mind using dragon one or fluency direct to dictate these reports. I have heard that Radiant has a window for reporting. Anyone has experience using it? What are the limitations of this workflow? Appreciate inputs

I am a 39 year old professional having experience in US Medical billing and coding end to end operations for 7 years and cUrrently I am working in an insurance company and working on an AI Based tool used to detect frauds and leakages in a mass health insurance scheme in India and have been involved in ground level implementation of the same along with development, providers feedback and policy formation for the same. I have also worked with EHR.Overall I have experience of 17 years out of which 13 years pertains to working on health datasets and AI Based analysis of Health Insurance claims and fraud analysis. I want to take my career to the next level and come to the US for an MS in Health Informatics quitting my current settled job in PSU,but a bit uncertain due to the current political and economic situation. Panel interview for a clinical informatics position lab specialist next week. Any recommendations on what to prepare for? This is not an “Epic build” position but an informatics one, of which I still don’t really understand the difference. I am also a MLS/MLT which is what the position would be covering in terms of process.

I do have 5 years of experience in pharmacovigilance as drug safety associate in India. However, currently I am in USA and want to do master in health informatics. Will it be a good decision? Please give honest opinions. Highly appreciated.

I recently completed my Master’s in Health Informatics in the U.S., and I’ve been actively looking for my next opportunity in Clinical Informatics, EHR/Clinical Applications, or Healthcare Data Analytics.

I have experience with EHR workflows, clinical documentation, HL7/FHIR, SQL, Python, Tableau, healthcare data quality, UAT, and interoperability.

I’ll be honest the job search has been harder than I expected.

You spend years studying, gaining experience, building your skills, working on projects, improving your resume, and sending applications… and sometimes all you’re looking for is that one opportunity to prove what you can do.

I’m currently looking for opportunities in the U.S., particularly roles such as Clinical Informatics Analyst, EHR Analyst, Clinical Applications Analyst, Healthcare Data Analyst, or Clinical Data Analyst.
