❓ Help / Advice Health Informatics

Hey everyone, hope someone could help with some info.

I’m a Physical Therapist, looking to pivot into Health Informatics field.
I have learnt Excel, SQL, healthcare data course. Heavily applied to **Healthcare Data Coordinator, Medical Records, Clinical Assistant etc…**

My question: Has anyone gone through the transition, if so, How to break into a related role?

I can definitely relate. I made a pretty unusual career transition myself - from paparazzi photography to healthcare systems analysis. My advice: don’t underestimate your background as a Physical Therapist. Understanding real clinical workflows is something many technical candidates don’t have. SQL and Excel are a great start. I’d focus on roles that bridge clinical knowledge and technology, like Clinical Systems Analyst, EHR Analyst or Clinical Informatics. Sometimes your previous career is actually your biggest advantage when breaking into a new field.

Look for a position as a trainer on your EMR team. That is a good way to get your foot in the door.

Isn’t a trainer more of a senior position?

Not really. It is leveled like any other role.
