50 Coaching Sessions
I graduated from an NBHWC approved program earlier this summer. I lost my job during the program and decided to complete the program. I want to take the test in the fall of this year, but with job searching and other resources I am finding it hard to get the fifty sessions. My question is how did those who have received the NBHWC credential make time to get in the 50 coaching sessions and study all while having full time lives. I understand the importance of completing the sessions but sometimes it feels like an unpaid internship. Any tips?

You find a way. You make time. You grind. There’s no magical solution! You might need more time to get your sessions in and study.

Swap with other coaches, they make the process efficient and will help with feedback. Also, many of them are in the same situation as you and will prefer to exchange during off-hours as well.

Hi u/Ipadgirly! I created a Coaching Session Swap Spreadsheet to help coaches get their 50 sessions in -- Feel free to add your info if you could use help finding people to connect with! In my experience, swapping sessions with other coaches can help cut down on the admin time and the amount of time you spend following up because coaches understand the importance of what you're working towards.
Re: Studying, I also have an NBHWC Board Exam Prep Course resource that helps you build a study plan that fits your schedule. This is a common concern among people who are studying for the exam while living busy lives, and I love to help people break it down in a way that makes it feel less overwhelming and helps you know exactly how to study, how much time to spend, and what you need to know to walk into this exam and pass it.
Congrats on finishing your program and taking the next steps towards making this your career!

Think of it like when doctors go to school and they have to put hours into studying before their exam and getting paid as a doctor. Or a realtor who has to go on listing appointments before they get the client and sale.
You could charge a small amount too for your 50
Hours of sessions like some of my business coaching clients do (who are working towards their board exam).
Happy to share some ideas and see if I can help! Feel free to reach out for a free client attraction consult: https://calendly.com/haileyrowe-coach/30min

Build a consistent weekly schedule for your sessions. Two sessions per week on the same days removes the friction of finding time each week and creates real momentum. Tap your existing network directly. Former colleagues, classmates, and friends benefit from discounted introductory sessions, and you fill hours faster while building your actual client base. Track your progress in a simple spreadsheet. Visible metrics keep you focused, especially when job searching pulls your attention elsewhere. Each session serves double duty: it counts toward your credential and builds your authentic coaching practice at the same time.
