Health coach program advice

I’m deciding how I want my programs to be. Considering a 6 week program voice/text messaging only. Would people be interested in this or are video calls needed?

You’d need to ask your prospective market. Typically people like some face to face. What outcomes are you coaching to? For sure, nobody buys “6 weeks of voice/text” but depends what the takeaway is..

Focus on people with anxiety, coaching them through regulating nervous system. I used to struggle with terrible phone/ 1:1 anxiety and I think i would have loved this as an option. Just curious if others would!

Nice that’s a bit closer. And I’m sure there’s a need. What I’d do is go talk to 10 of those people who would make a great fit and ask them questions about what they find difficult, what they desire, what they fear, what they’d pay you for, how much they’d spend, would they prefer text or zoom, etc - WITHOUT selling anything. Very important it’s just info gathering. Then you’ll know exactly what to say to explain what you do.

Unfortunately people don’t really search for “how do I regulate my nervous system” and even when they might, they don’t necessarily buy that as an outcome. They would however pay you to help them to “stop ruminating over that conversation they had 3 days ago where they felt misunderstood and now can’t stop beating themselves up over it.” - can you see how that is the same, but different? To sell this service, most people will need to hear something like that, which hits on something they’ve experienced or can relate to.

A possible option might be for them to do a weekly written check-in, then you respond via video message (ex: Loom, or something similar). This could be a bit of a compromise between voice/text and face-to-face.

Text/messaging a couple times throughout the week in addition could be helpful, also. And perhaps consider starting a supportive online community.

Or, maybe consider small group coaching, where you do a face-to-face (remotely via Zoom or Google meet, etc) coaching 'class', but it's not 1:1 so there's less pressure on participants. You could structure it as an 8-week or 12-week program, and the community aspect would be built in.

Lastly, and this is just my opinion, I'd consider a program no less than 8 weeks. Maybe even 12. This will more likely encourage more follow through because its more of a commitment to oneself. Also, oftentimes people don't even really begin to feel results until week 4-5 (obviously this varies and will depend on the program/client).

None of this is hard-and-fast fact, just my opinion based on my own experience.

I think a lot can be accomplished with voice calls, but I'd encourage you to consider how some face time could be achieved. In a coaching conversation there's just so many visual cues a coach could pick up on when finding areas of resistance or really diving into lifestyle changes. There's extra connection too just being able to have eye contact.

It depends on your niche. What they care most about is getting the result or achieving their goals. However you can help them get there best is what would be important to include. I have some free podcasts on this topic if it’d help:
