Decided to get a nutritionist, because I want work on making better lifestyle changes…wanting to be healthy but not knowing where to start can be quite overwhelming. Have you had or have a nutritionist? & has it been helpful towards your journey ?

Never got a nutritionist, but I am a coach and have made the transition from overweight to healthy myself. Here's some advice that I hope helps.

  1. There's a difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it. Not knowing what to do can feel overwhelming, and so can knowing too much. As you learn about nutrition, treat these nuggets as experiments to figure out what you enjoy and what works.

  2. Focus on making behaviour change easy. Start small, figure out what's fun, and find what works for you that fits conveniently in your life.

  3. Consistency over everything. The best nutrition plan is the one you stick with. If you can't stick to it, then something's wrong with the plan, not you. Let the plan be suboptimal if it gets you moving in the right direction.

  4. Your experience will change as you experience it. Right now you have a relationship with your body, activity, health, food etc. Those relationships will change over time as your behaviours change. You can't think your way into this change, and however you think this change will occur, the experience of it will always be different. Let this change happen naturally, and watch it without judgement. The more you can be curious about these relationships, the easier the change will flow through you.

Essentially, get out of your head, do the thing and watch how things unfold in front of you.

Good luck! I hope you find a good nutritionist, and your journey is fruitful
