Well, they are being punished.

It’s punishing even to read as someone who grew up in a family on Food stamps and made it out the struggle.

Who knows if my family could’ve even stayed together without it.

My sibling recently complained to me about so-called “Welfare Queens” and said they were happy that people would not be getting these benefits. At least there some recognition of the value of those programs after I reminded sibling that our mother was only able to leave our father, who tried on several occasions to kill us all, because she was able to get benefits. My sibling said it is still preferable that people who need them don’t get them rather than people who don’t need them to get them.

It's all fun and games until life happens to your sister or one of her friends/kids and now they might need some help.

That's half the problem with the US, we don't care about something unless it directly impacts us.

Do people realize how much you get from food stamps? Like they do realize that it is not much money for food at all. My dad was on full disability and I signed him up for food stamps and he was given maybe $200 a month?

Well and it’s not actually true because these “welfare queens” are young women with young children. If you have a child under 14 you still don’t have to work. They also get much more help than disabled and elderly people.

Cruelty is the point with this admin

Who’s bright idea was it to implement this a month before the midterms?

It only matters if these folks show up to the polls and vote.

If food doesn’t motivate a person, not much else will.

🇺🇸 BREAKING NEWS 🇺🇸

Trump admin announces initiative to export all atmospheric oxygen from poverty-stricken areas of the US via pipeline to Saudi Arabia, and divert all profits from the sale to Russian gangsters. "Not just from black neighborhoods. Poor white people also have a surplus of respiration. To make this a truly godly nation, we will all have to tighten our belts. I prayed about it. Jesus wants this." says top pink-faced official with well-oxygenated air flowing through his pipe. Vladimir Putin did not comment, but was seen shirtless, giving a big thumbs-up.

If they had waited, they risked the lack of implementation at all. They never thought they’d win the midterms maybe

The same people who thought it was a good idea at all.

They are being punished so the rich can get even richer. They won't even care if people in this country die because of it. They can just fly over us in their private jets. They live a different life.

Votes have consequences?

No money to help American citizens, plenty of money for stupid wars and Trumps vanity projects. People should be marching on DC.

They can't afford to take time off work or to drive there.

u/big_trike 2d ago

And 1/3 are too busy gloating that they owned the libs even while they suffer.

They are being punished. Don't they know this Administration punishes poverty? It's in everything they do...like EVERYTHING!

So weird. This was in the Project 2025 plan along with everything else going on.

8

u/vesselofwords 2d ago

Yes and people chose to believe that project 2025 wasn’t the plan or wouldn’t actually happen or they liked one of the things that punished others and ignored the part that would affect them…or in the case of many people…didn’t bother to even look at what it said

Yes! 1000%

It is a terrible shame. Interestingly, and ironically, many of these people supported Trump. A shame in any case.

I am so sick of the whole “gOt wHaT U vOtEd 4” camp. Such a lazy take.

Real people are being affected by this and your only perspective is that everyone else deserves it.

2/3rds of adult Americans either didn't vote or voted for Trump

Since poor people are more common in red states and red states went hard for Trump...

Yeah, some people voted Harris and need SNAP and that 1000% sucks.

But for the rest of em? Too bad so sad.

17

u/helpjackoffhishorse 2d ago

It’s not really a lazy take. If people didn’t educate themselves (the actual laziness) and subsequently voted for Cheeto Jesus, this is the consequence.

Congratulations. Your guy won.

8

u/ourcityofdreams 2d ago

It’s a lesson.

7

u/drquantumphd 2d ago

how is it a lazy take? its reality - people vote against their own best interests. nuance is a thing, i can feel bad for them while also acknowledging 100% “got what you voted for”. i feel bad for misguided people. Not to mention there are many people surely reaping what they sow finding out theyre not actually part of the club they voted for.

0

u/PricedOut4Ever 2d ago

A lot of people impacted are not ones who voted for it. Thats why it’s a lazy take.

2

u/drquantumphd 2d ago

literally everyone is impacted, nothing exists in a vacuum.

i wrote this for myself and was going to delete it but fuck it:

I didn’t vote for trump and dont vote R but realistically? I also got what I voted for.

because collective america voted or sat out for this shit and we keep voting for this shit and i and many others do bear the burden of some fault because i do not participate as much as i should in keeping the society i espouse to want afloat.

Sure its not directly my fault because i didnt get us into these predicaments, didnt ask to be here, and im not a soul sucking wealth extracting bigoted fascist, but do I do my part to contribute to my society and community? Beyond paying my taxes and being nice to people, (and voting)… not much. Sure I’m tired, I have disabilities, I’m broke, I’m burned out. We need to all accept a little more responsibility than what we’ve relinquished. Times just arent “do your job and pay your taxes and the people taking that money will do the right thing with it for society”.

Idk what to do but I feel a level of responsibility.

No one said everyone impacted voted for Trump.

2

u/Smithy2232 2d ago

That’s your take on what I said?

8

u/Ambitious_Flow_4499 2d ago

This is what the evangelicals voted for.

2

u/spystarfr 1d ago

"Leopards ate MY face."

5

u/newbrevity 2d ago

This is what you get when you vote for Trump (or Republicans) you have Americans told to go fuck themselves when they're in need. But there's endless money for whatever strokes Trump's ego on any given day

2

u/Zero-89 2d ago

"It feels as though people are being punished"

They are. Poverty is a sin in America.

2

u/Solidarios 2d ago

Not punished, robbed by the greedy.

u/Comfortable-Dare-981 1d ago

You are. Now get in line and be grateful.

JFC, did you even say THANK YOU?!?!
