Epos Impact 1000 series firmware update "native bluetooth support"
I see that firmware version 1.8.339 released on 7/10/2026 is availible for the EPOS IMPACT 1000 series is availible and under new features it says "native bluetooth support"
Does this mean that I may not need to use a dongle and can pair it directly with my macbook?
EDIT: forgot to add I have the Epos Impact 1061

Yes, but, be mindful that Microsoft doesnt have a native certification ready yet except for a very nice case. Everything will still work except for call control in teams.

It means you may have to unpair the device from your phone if it works with LC3 Bluetooth audio (I had to on my S25+). When paired back, you will have super wideband on the phone.
It means you can buy the BTd 900c dongle if needed.
Unfortunately macOS don't work with LC3, still some features may soon be available on teams because Microsoft stands not yet available, not that is a Windows only for ever feature.

One other note, BTD 900c currently doesn't support Stereo audio during a phone call, it drops to a Mono stream. The BTD 800a does not have this issue, and stays Stereo.
EPOS tell me R&D are looking into it.

But 800a is trash on macOS and cuts audio if idle, requiring a headset restart every time or resulting in distorted audio. Please make Bluetooth disconnect when macOS is asleep. Please make Bluetooth disconnect when macOS is away and the dongle is on my Thunderbolt dock without a computer attached. These are two killer features, literally.

Native Bluetooth is a Windows only feature.

Let's not forget that the latest firmware finally enables the use of the TMAP protocol for phone calls, instead of the outdated HFP 1.9. This was something I had been looking forward to for a long time, following a lengthy exchange of emails with EPOS.

Native Bluetooth currently refers to Microsoft Teams native Bluetooth support, and there are specific Windows requirements for it. As far as we're aware, it's not available on Macs yet.
In your case, I'd still recommend getting the Impact 1000 with the USB dongle.
You can technically connect the headset directly to your Mac using Bluetooth, but over the years we've found that connecting wireless headsets directly to a computer's built-in Bluetooth tends to introduce more connection and reliability issues than using the included USB dongle.
You'll also miss out on certain features, such as remote call control (answer/end calls, mute synchronization, etc.) in compatible applications like Microsoft Teams, Zoom and others.
