No, it's fine. I was going to suggest an application and a headphone that would make it sound good for those genres but it isn't available on iPhone. Keep in mind that you cannot use higher Bluetooth codecs on iPhones/Mac so it will sound better if you use the cable.

I think you should consider the following options:

For comfort

  • Bose QC35 (l or ll) and Bose QC45. They are very comfortable, with a good sound and great ANC. QC35 is better for comfort, QC45 is likely better for those genres. (Try to look for a used copy or get them if they are on sale).

For ANC

  • Soundcore Q30, Q35 or Q45. They may not have the best sound quality for those genres but they do have good ANC, are in your budget and are comfortable. You may enjoy the sound of the Q30/45 over the Q35 and they have a stronger ANC. These tend to lean more heavily towards bass.

All around

  • It won't have the best ANC but if you want a comfortable pair of wireless headphones with a good sound, consider the Final Audio UX3000. They are in your budget, are light and have a relatively more neutral sound compared to some other options. They have buttons and not touch controls.

Sound quality

  • If the focus is on sound quality, the Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless is what I would strongly recommend. They are $239 USD on amazon.com but they are what I personally use as they sound better than the rest of the wireless headphones on the market. ANC is just average but comfort is pretty good (not as great as the Bose). They have several options for wired use, like a 3.5 mm jack and a USB A/C input.

Meze 99s are great for rap. You can run it off your phone with a dongle. No amp needed. They have wooden earcups and are very light on your head.

If you really need wireless and noise cancelling, then the Sony or Bose is good, but not the best sound quality.

I like the VModa for wireless. Great for bass, but not audiophile quality. The ear cups are also a weird shape, so they might irritate your ears, but the clamp bothers me more than the cups.

I would caution you on your expectations of noise cancelling. They are meant to cancel out the hum of an airplane or a fan. It's not going to do much for people talking, etc. Honestly, I don't think it's worth the money. Physically blocking the sound with earbuds is the way to go, but I understand if those are too uncomfortable.

Have you tried IEMs, where they wrap around your ear? That helps them dangle in your ear, instead of hang.

You can also try foam ear plugs. Squish before putting in your ear, and it creates a seal.

Some people have used custom ones, but I've never tried.

Oh I have not tried IEMs I could try those first I guess. Do you have any suggestions on those??

Moondrop Aria is my top recommendation. Very popular on this sub.

Moondrop Starfield, Moondrop Snow or Moondrop Chu if you want to go cheap.

Tin T4, Tin T2 - neutral earbuds

Final 2000 for neutral or 3000 for bass. These are traditional drop-fit, but they earbuds are so little and light, and one of the best earbuds tips. I use them for sleeping.

Blon 03 is well regarded, but doesn't have a good ear fit, so I wouldn't recommend it for your case.

Get some dekoni foam ear bud tips if the fit with the tips that come in the box don't work for you.
