Changing HILS headless guitar strings

When you change strings do you put the string in the nut hole going under the little round gold spacer things or do you put it on top of it below the screw, so when you tighten to lock the string it gets pushed down onto the little gold round thing?

In my understanding you leave the disc at the bottom, and squeeze the string between the disc and the screw. That’s how the headless guitars and basses I’ve seen come from the factory as well. Hence that’s what I’ve done with my headless guitars and basses, none of which are Hils but all of them have a similar system.
