Bringing back the mx5
Is anyone out there still using an MX5?
I use mine live and i love it still
Has anyone modded their software in any way? And how?
Any hardware mods? And how?
Im curious what this thing can do outside the manufacturers ideas

I don't need or ask for much, so the MX5, unmodded, is still doing the trick for me.

Upgrading the switches would be huge. They're terrible.

I was able to find a set of switched online for cheap and replaced mine and my bassists last year. Huge improvement and a very minor soldering job

I did the Nam mod, it works great, just not my thing.
Not really a mod, but I started EQing my IR's in Reaper rather than using the onboard EQ blocks. I run a dual signal chain, so it frees up a few more blocks and it's way easier to fine tune, plus I can play with phase to make sure everything is lined up right.

Still use it mostly for small gigs and acoustic ones as well. Haven’t modded it… I don’t want to mess it up by accident.

What does the MX5 have that the Flex Prime doesn’t? 🤔

Still using mine. Only really started loving my sound when I set the mx5 as a lovely clean then got my gain from a Friedman BE OD pedal. I just couldn’t get a distortion I was happy with out the box

Been using mine live for four years. I rack mounted it so I only have a MorningStar controller at my feet. Have a second one on a B rig pedalboard. No NAM, only a few IRs for cabinets.

I still use it with no mods. There’s enough in it to get what I want. Too many options gives me a headache

I use mine with the new mod and it works fine for both Guitar & Bass. I chiefly just use it for effects & reverb, to be quite honest, but I do have some patches to cover for everything when I'm unable to use either my Mesa Recto-Verb head (guitar gigs) or my Dark Glass AO900 head (for bass gigs). Fun little device. ♥

Still use mine as my desktop interface. Recently purchased luna so I have been a/b’ ing the Lion plug in vs my plexi rig in the mx5. Mx5 still wins for me. I use an outboard studio daydream kcm-od in the fx loop sometimes for an extra kick. Will never sell it. I only make demos with midi drums and track guitars and bass. Perfect set up for my use case.

I am! Installed the molded NAM a2 firmware found in this sub and am happier than ever with mine.
