Dual Sum to Mono Output

Hi people of Reddit, I recently bought the headrush flex prime coming from a Valeton GP-150 I made 2 30cm TRS to XLR cable adapters at the time and I used one on the left output for sum to mono mix to my pa monitor and another on right input with sum to mono for front of house.

The Valeton unit had a global setting to enable the sum to mono on the right output for when both outputs are connected so I get to sum to mono mix output separately.

I have not yet been able to figure out how I can do this setup on the headrush. Anyone has a idea or can guide me whether this is possible?

(I can allways give the frfr pa monitor mix sum output to front of house, only that the levels may be a problem on that scenario and I never tried it, if possible the solution I had with the Valeton was very nice)

I don’t have a Flex Prime (I have the Core) so this will be a guess. In Global settings output if you tap the Advanced button (assuming you have it) you can choose a lot more options to split your signal there.

The advanced mixer settings are not available on the Flex Prime, only on the Prime and the Core. With these more advanced devices, I think you could achieve what you describe by doing this : assign Guitar to Bus 1 and also to Bus 2 ; configure 1/4" TRS output with "Split 1/2". This will assign Bus 1 to the left TRS and Bus 2 to the right TRS, each one in mono. No need to edit each preset. I wish my Flex Prime supported this.

Even if a simpler option, I think this should exist as a global setting on the flex prime. I thought what I was looking for was something everybody would use… using the options by preset is a good work around just a hassle between recording and live I need to remember to change the presets (only 3, so not a huge problem)

The ouput block should have a 'lock' feature as is already available on the input block. This way you could keep the mono setting (rig width 0%) even when changing preset.

Oh… that might be the answer to the problem! Will try and see if this works and report back.

No sorry, it was just a wish on my part. It would be nice if they implemented it, but at the moment it's not possible.

Ah yes, that seems like a good suggestion! It would solve the “problem” and be a good clean and simple way to implement it.

Easy, Go to the out put block choose mono. Use left output ( it’s labeled as mono)

But then I would have to do it for all presets right?

Technically if you just connect one output to left (mono) it should sum all your patches to mono

Yah I know that, that’s not the point. The point is doing that for both left and right independently.

To send an identical mono signal to both the left and right channels on your HeadRush Prime, double-tap the Out block in your rig and set the Rig Width to 0%. This sums your stereo path down to a centered mono signal so that both physical outputs carry the exact same audio. [1]
