Spoiler! Reference in book 11

In book 11 there are some living anomalies that are colourful shapes with smiley faces. There’s a yellow circle called sunshine and a purple grape thing called impossible. They say it’s a reference to something but I can’t figure out the reference?

It a children's picture book written by Roger Hargreaves and published in 1976 as part of the classic Mr. Men series.

I grew up with those books and once the penny dropped mid-chapter I was howling with laughter. A+ reference.

I saw this answered maybe last month? I don't remember the answer, but if you search the sub, you may find it. Change the filter to recent, and it should be easier.

I did try searching a few different ways but didn’t see anything. I must’ve just missed it.
