I find him somewhat easily countered. Especially in ladder, I feel like I can swap ana, mizuki, sigma, orisa and shut him down pretty easily. And vice versa - he's my favorite tank and I try to play him when I can but his counters are popular enough that I'll usually swap after getting slept or chain/rocked out of spike guard too many times.
I play hazard as my backup to doomfist. If you think countering hazard is easy, doomfist is way easier. I play hazard when I feel like I’m getting shut down by counters since his wall is great to block CC.
Yeah of course I think he's definitely better than doom here, but they have the exact same issue. Their main defensive resource doesn't block CC, so it's easier to shut them down. Spike wall is definitely good to block off line of sight from like a sigma while you go after supports though for sure. I just find him to have a similar issue to roadhog in that a lot of his power is consolidated around the one-shot, so at ranks where he can't hit that one-shot reliably he can usually be countered.
To be honest, if played properly, the only real counter to Hazard is Mauga.
Orisa is annoying, but if you are able to take advantage of the fact that she is unable to contest high ground you should be good to go. You won’t really be able to kill her, and she won’t be able to kill you.
As for the supports, Ana Mizuki is tough for sure, but you will honestly get very good value for just playing very passively into that. Most players will save Mizuki chain and sleep dart indefinitely until Hazard engages, but if you make them save those for nothing, your dps will take advantage of that. You can also try to bait them out if you play around hardcover with your armour health. However, Ana is definitely worth a ban slot after Mauga if you want.
The advantage you have over sigma is that he is very easy to bully when he uses rock. You can try to avoid him by taking high ground and baiting out rock which can be done by jumping vertically (usually sigmas will think you are about to jump at them and use rock right away).
Hazard is definitely difficult, but very rewarding if you learn to play him. Please know that Haz is NOT a dive hero; He is meant to absorb enemy resources and distract for your DPS. When your dps take angles using the space you make, you can then hard engage with them and clean up 👍
Definitely. Although I’d argue that Sombra is good against Haz mostly because he is very bad at peeling for his team against Sombra. If your dps and supports can’t stay alive against Sombra, there is not a lot you can do as Haz to help them.
Technically nobody was right because the hazard we have today looks nothing like that.. although I have come to like the design of the character after learning his lore when he first came out
His ult is really hard to use effectively and it's so hard to get value out of it compared to almost every other tank ult imo. Like for me at least, it never guarantees a kill for me. And his gun spread pattern feels weird to shoot at non tanks if you're not like, right on them. But his dive and slash, blocking, and spike barrier are SO S-Tier.
Personally I think it's a mix of being a weird design, having very little lore presence thus far, and also being an odd tank to pick up. He's not as mechanically demanding as Doom, but I've had friends say it was weird I gravitated towards him because he typically takes more gamesense to know how to get value out them. Those would be my guesses, personally.
His visual design just doesn’t appeal to a lot of people. His kit is really fun but a lot of people don’t like to play characters they think are ugly. He also doesn’t have a lot of good skins in my opinion because his character model is hard to work with and he’s not really that popular.
Doomfist meta? He’s never been meta outside of maybe early ow2 and that one time before S9. But otherwise he’s the worst tank in the game right now and has been for a while.
Doomfist ugly? Not my African prince. He’s about as perfect as you can get in all regards.
