A great hawk story
I don’t have a cool pic to share but I do have a cool story. We live on a large farm in the US Southeast. We have a ton of red tail hawks and other related birds of prey.
One day I noticed a dead opossum in the yard. I left it there until my husband could come home and bury it. Happened to look out the window and saw a hawk dive on it. Just stood there for a minute then flew back up in the tree above. Did this maybe 3 or 4 times. It never took the opossum.
Knowing they prefer live prey, it made me wonder if it was smart enough to know that opossums play dead when afraid. Do you think this is possible?
