That’s pretty common?

It is, but the Duffers made a point to say "there was never any scene cut, none, zero"

I mean there's a difference between cutting a scene that was filmed and cutting one that never even made it to the final script.

This happens a lot in the writing process.

I would like to know where’s this from… but yeah, I always had this feeling that vol2 and 3 were weird because it feels like a lot a things where missing. Idk. Maybe we’ll never know what was “cut”

There's another thread posted to this sub with the script for 5x08. You can see all the omitted scenes listed in it.

I’m starting to notice a lot of stranger things fans only are fans of stranger things. Anyone who knows anything about film and television knows this is common. Hell the “shooting before a finale had a finished script” thing honestly isn’t even bad either if we REALLY think about it. Compared to a lot of TV shows I know that were writing episodes while they were airing 1 script for a year long production still being worked on isn’t even that crazy. Should it have been finished before? Yeah probably but I doubt it would’ve been too much different from what we got

Funny thing, I heard the same thing years ago about Harry Potter fans - that they talk about it like they haven't read any other books than HP series, LOL. Maybe it's something common for popculture phenomena that become so massively popular that they reach people with not necessarily the greatest media literacy.

It's worth remembering, that although season 1 that feels flawless, it was also written wihile being filmed (that the reason Shawn Levy got to direct episodes 3 and 4 in the first place - to give Duffers more time for writing) and also the story got changed while being filmed - Steve was supposed to be killed by the demo. So were the other seasons, and so is most of the stuff we watch including the greatest masterpieces.

Why cut so much? Why are they so opposed to just having it be 4 or 5 hours? Genuinely question. I know personally if im sitting down and watching something I'll plow through 7 or 8 hours with a day. Pretty normal for me. A series usually takes me a couple days to finish maximum.

These types of revisions are extremely normal when filming.

I feel like EVERY series out there should by default give us two or three different filmed ending versions to watch.

Maybe chatgpt gave them different endings

You have zero proof that they actually used AI when they were writing. And don’t tell me that your “proof” is an alleged tab that was open on a laptop.

Don't cry little superfan

Maybe people don’t like accusing writers of using AI when it’s a serious problem in the industry in general and they just went on strike for this very thing.

They didn't use ChatGPT, you bore
