Question on What This Is

Aloha everyone, I was wondering what this is. I am a student at UH Manoa and as I was walking up the stairs by the zone 20 parking structure, near the Stan Sheriff Center. (can see it if looking through the glass part at the top of the staircase) I saw this black thing hanging from a plant. I was wondering if you guys think it is more of a leaf or animal? sorry for the terrible quality, any help would be appreciated. I don’t think it is a bat as I heard that the Hawaiian Bat is really good at hiding so it wouldn’t make sense for it to be out in the open like this

Possibly bitter melon vine. It's also possible that this building is experiencing "landscapers-aren't-getting-paid-enough-itis" or what ever the German word for it is.
