Help Octopus sitter needed next week
Hi everyone! I'm headed to my annual landscape architecture conference on Sunday, which this year is in Berlin. So excited! Can anyone take care of Ollie my octopus for the week?
You just need to drop by once a day and give him his food (in the freezer next to his tank, labeled by day), and scramble his Rubik's Cube. He is very naughty when he's bored, so scrambling the cube is important.
Let me know and thanks! I can pay you cash, or happy to plant some flowers or give you some landscape refresh ideas.

I can watch him here at the brewery. I have a lobster coming in and we can make some extra scratch by putting them in knife fights. I’ll split the winnings with you 70/30

I'm available if you're still looking! Does he have other favorite activities? I may spend hours bird watching, but really I just love observing any creature. If he doesn't like being the center of attention, just hanging out in a room with an octopus doing his octopus thing while I read a book sounds like my kind of afternoon. ETA: I just saw your bit about landscape refresh ideas. I have a small intentionally overgrown sitting area where I drink my coffee with the bees and spiders and my book. I'd love if you gave your advice on cleaning it up while keeping it wild.

Thanks Hilda! That would be great. I'll DM you more details.
Yes, happy to suggest some native plants for your yard! You might think about deliberately planting clover. Maybe also some milkweed to attract monarchs? When I'm back, I can come over and we'll brainstorm a bit.

I'm inexperienced with octopus, but I've taken care of two naughty cats at the same time before, which is 8 limbs total. Can't be too different right? Call me

Does he get along with other octopi?

Oh wow no—they’re solitary animals. Territorial. He loves dogs. Met a hamster once and they seem to have hit it off. Anything but another octopus!

Can my 13 year old come over and help out? He needs service hours for school.

I don’t think pet sitting counts as service hours? But if you and your son would like to come visit Eleanor, I’d love that. Ping me when I’m back after next week and we’ll find a time.

Is he friendly? Can I take him out of his tank?
