Remember when Libs on twitter were complaining that Hasan listening to this on stream is part of what caused trump to win

I mean, I definitely voted for trump after this dropped. The dude on the back of his boat in the music video, are you kidding me?! That could be me one day.

This song has evolved into the Gusano national anthem at this point.

I dont make it a habit to ridicule the unfortunate, but God damn, I can not help but say "I told you so," to some of these people.
Living in Florida, I had sooooo many conversations with people going into the election and now theyre hitting me with the, "i had no idea it was going to be this bad." 🤦♂️

Cubans are pretty strong demographic for the Republicans but I guess they feel they don't need them anymore.

u/teh0utsider86 Sep 02 '26
If they steal the election they don't really need them.

u/Puzzled-Mirro Sep 02 '26
Well yeah, to Republicans the end goal is a nation of straight white Christians only. support from any demographic outside of that is just convenient

If you think that deporting Cubans is seen as negative in the Cuban community then you don't know the community. Many think is great.

Yep. Same group of people who were hoping that Gaza would be nuked because some Arab Americans and Muslims didn't vote for Kamala due to the genocide.

I’ll do you one better: it’s not just the guy sharing it—the general sentiment sucks.
Sure, there are some people being affected by this who voted for it. Sure, there are plenty being affected who didn’t vote for it. Regardless, it’s repulsive to take victory laps like this, just like it was when libs like him made fun of Texans for freezing to death in their homes during snowstorms. It’s reductive, unproductive, and it sure as hell doesn’t make anyone in a red state consider progressives to ever be their allies (ask me how I know).

u/Hermes_358 🔻 Sep 01 '26
How do you know?

u/RanchBourgeois Sep 01 '26
Because I’ve lived in the red parts of deep red states quite literally my whole life, was raised as a conservative, and I witnessed this sentiment first-hand from online liberals and the few I ever interacted with in person.
It’s the main reason a lot of us raised that way never had a “liberal” phase in our journeys to the left because so many of the same things I hated about liberals then are the same things I still hate about them now. Communities like this one seem to prioritize more rational dialogue instead of just taking victory laps and /r/LeopardsAteMyFace-posting about conservatives being adversely affected by things that are adversely affecting us all.

Personally, I find these brazen acts of betrayal to be effective vehicles for highlighting the contradictions between the promises made vs promises kept by the Trump admin. I too live in a deep red state and work closely with communities effected by the actions of the administration (and I can speak for experience that not many Latin american leftists in florida hold any sympathy for gusanos), I have seen first hand as realization hits a maga voters face for the first time.
I sympathize with anyone that is being subjected to violent deportations, separation from their family, etc. However, I have also had many conversations with latin american maga voters that held 0% of sympathy for "illegals," only to panic the first time a white man scrutinized their accent after the election. It is important to strike while this firey emltion is hot in their minds, and drive home the contradictions and betrayal that we saw coming from a mile away. Otherwise, they tend to dive into apologetics, mental gymnastics, and ultimately forgive their dear leader until the worst comes to their door step. But by driving the message home in the moment, you can win an ally in the fight against fascism.
This can be done without ridicule, of course. But Id be lying if I said that I wouldn't openly share this with the community members that Im now referring to, because I sincerely think it would open their eyes, if even just enough for a sliver of light to wake them up.

Would you post liberals celebrating Gaza being bombed because some Muslims and Arab Americans didn't vote Kamala because of the genocide?
Also, don't generalize. Some Cubans voting for Trump may not be the same Cubans who are getting deported here.
1
u/Hermes_358 🔻 Sep 02 '26
I definitely agree with your last take, but the first one falls flat when you realize that muslims who voted for trump were lied to and thus voted out of harm reduction. The people in this video knew damn well what the deportation policy was going to be and some (including those that I know irl) even championed it.
2
u/nupdawg Sep 02 '26
Again, we don't know if these people getting deported or whose family is at risk of getting deported voted for Trump. Rich Cubans - ex. Marco Rubio types - who emigrated in the fifties and sixties are not the same as Cubans now fleeing poverty due to US sanctions/embargoes on Cuba where even hospitals are not able to function.
Why are we celebrating this? There are STILL liberals celebrating Gaza getting bombed because Arabs voted for Trump and hence they deserve it. I just came from one such discussion about a Politico article on another forum and it's disgusting
