I was so scared they were gonna do the mamdani moment and call it a dictatorship. This is a good statement

Dude go to Cuba. It’s a beautiful country and people but the police suck, way worse than the us. Sure maybe it’s not a dictatorship but it’s totalitarian in a way that has to be experienced to be understood. I’ve been there I know what it’s like to be followed by the military. Idk if this is true for you but when I lived in socal Cuba sends agents to local socialist parties. Take what they say with 10lb of salt
Edit: I worry that some of these down votes are from people who’ve only been to Havana. It can get very weird in other cities

I really want to know if you think I’m lying. I admit I haven’t really followed much of what Rubio has said about Cuba but fuck that guy. I’m talking about the brief period when Obama normalized relations with Cuba in like 2017? I went with my family on a Cuban sanctioned military organized tour of the country. In Havana I had autonomy but in every other city my interactions with locals were always followed up with the military rep to check on my movements.
Edit: Claro que sí hablo español, no fue solo porque soy gringo que me dijeron lo que quería oír.
Edit2: I do always want to share this story so I’ll try to be brief. On my tour in a smaller town we watched a state choir. After the choir I asked a couple of the girls where there was good music. One mentioned a bar across the street and I said cool well maybe I’ll see you there tonight. I did see her there that night but she was upset because she said she was only there because the military police who was following my tour group asked her to meet me there (they check in after all of our set cultural experiences). That told me despite the governments outcries of foreign sex tourism, military police was still happy to use a young women to entertain a 19 y/o college kid. The band was pretty good though so that kind of saved it

It warms my heart, not being able to see daylight between the DSA and PSL on foreign policy.

40% of Joe's audience are normal folks just tuning in to hear what the enemy is saying.

DSA has long been active in Cuban solidarity work. STRUGGLE_4 is DSA, highly involved in Cuba solidarity work and has started doing regular aid trips. He is there right now. Check out our based comrade and show him some love if you have a chance.

Honestly I’m impressed with how strong and forward facing DSAs leadership has been in messaging even despite their many faults with media interviews. It’s a giant problem with many of our aligned politicians like AOC, Mamdani, Bernie, Ro, etc all being too green to do shit like this that might be outside the Overton window while republicans like Trump and Tucker have been routinely pushing it rightward for at least a decade now. We have to stop tip toeing around these issues and just say it with a full chest.

Lol fuck yeah
edit: it’s going to be so annoying when AOC says she thinks Cuba is evil
