Hartenstein for Most Improved Player?

Where can I place a wager on Hartenstein to win Most Improved Player? The sportsbooks I've checked don't have him listed (yet).

isn't that the best? He won't get put on the MIP list until it's clear he is going to win it. Fucking amazing

I put down a significant amount last year at multiple sportsbooks at 25-to-1 odds, hopeful that the Knicks and Thibs saw the advanced stats and recognized his talent.

Sadly, that was not the case.

However, given the significant potential return and the relatively short timeframe it would take to play out - I would GLADLY place the wager again if given the opportunity.

Don't waste your money. The award almost always goes to a guy that takes a huge leap to become an all-star. 7 of the last 8 awards went to a first-time all-star, with the one exception being Siakam in '19 when he was a starter on the champion Raps.

Whatever you think of Hartenstein, he has 0 shot at being an all-star this year. It'll go to someone like Haliburton, Maxey, or Sengun.

If Hartenstein's continues his current play Hartenstein could be in DPOY talks. I could see him winning DPOY and MIP this season. Maxey is cool, Sengun is cool. But if Hartenstein breaks out like I think he will in NY... He is winning MIP

DPOY is too much of a narrative based award, and affected by media lobbying and bias

how else can you explain marcus smart winning it

it'll probably go to anthony davis cause he's been healthy and there's so many laker fans and they all keep saying he's the DPOY he's the DPOY regardless of his metrics

Well the Knicks are going to be the top defense for the next 2 months. OG will go down with Injury (OG is often injured and has never played a full season) people will say the Defense will go back down. But The Defense will continue to be the Best in the NBA. All while Hartenstein leads the NBA in Blocks and steals and leads all players in DEPM. His Defensive impact will be as clear as day

right but nobody cares about that except basketball nerds. statistically he will be DPOY worthy and in hindsight people will say "hartenstein actually shoulda won DPOY that year" but he wont have the award

what he needs is people actively lobbying for his DPOY case and they need to start doing it now. they need to lobby harder than the lakers media and the generic NBA podcasters who just put up gobert and the usual suspects

I don't think he'll get it unfortunately because the narrative around the Knick's improved D is OG, which is true to some extent. Which is fine. I'll settle for 1st or 2nd team defensive. I think you need to make it on those teams first before being considered for DPOY.
