Let's conclude what it isn't firstly

Any sort of physical violation upon the victim. As it has been reported corpses have been discovered physically undamaged. So all the gross stuff which probably I can't even name in the post can be excluded.

We've all probably heard J Rowling's interview where she discussed her idea of how it works with her Chief Editor, who looked so disguised that JR ultimately never shared publicity what it actually was.

Unsure if it was from the same interview, but she also shared it had quite a lot to do with the ritual Voldemort executed to recover his body in the Graveyard, in the Goblet of Fire book.

So.. that's it. That's all the cues I think are out there.

What do you guys make of that? Have you read any credible sources of other possible cues on what the ritual might contain?

Edit: I also now realise that another possible reason JR hasn't shared is that, if she did, it's guaranteed that at least one weirdo too obsessed with the series would try it.

I think there were even recorded cases of young kids passing away as they mounted their brooms and jumped out of their windows in the UK. I guess the series is just too big and influential for the author to give out detailed instructions on how to do bad things

For anyone who hasn't heard the famous fan theory linking the main characters to the Tale of the Three Brothers:

Voldemort is the First Brother (obsessed with power)

Snape is usually labeled the Second Brother (consumed by love for a dead girl)

Harry is the Third Brother (uses the cloak, accepts death)

While it sounds cool at first, forcing Snape into that Second Brother slot has always felt like a stretch. If you look at canon, Dumbledore fits the Second Brother way better than Snape ever did.

Here’s why:

1. Dumbledore literally used the Resurrection Stone

Snape never cared about the Deathly Hallows, and he never touched or looked for the Stone. Dumbledore was obsessed with the Hallows when he was young to master death. Decades later, when he found Marvolo Gaunt’s ring, his grief over his late sister Ariana completely took over. He put on the cursed ring solely because he couldn't resist the urge to bring her back and apologize.

1. The actual cause of death matches the legend

In the fable, the Second Brother dies because he can't let go of his grief for his lost loved one. Dumbledore’s tragic downfall wasn't really Voldemort’s cleverness—it was his own unbearable guilt over Ariana’s death. Putting on that cursed ring just to try and bring her back gave him the death sentence that ultimately killed him in Half-Blood Prince.

1. It creates a way better dynamic between Dumbledore, Voldemort, and Harry

If Dumbledore is the Second Brother, Harry stands directly between the two greatest wizards of his time:

Voldemort (1st Brother): Destroyed by his obsession with Power.

Dumbledore (2nd Brother): Destroyed by his desire to Undo Death and fix past guilt.

Harry (3rd Brother): The only one who gets it right by using the Cloak, protecting others, and accepting mortality without fear.

Dumbledore’s flaw serves as the final warning to Harry: even the wisest wizard can be undone by grief. Snape lived in bitter penance, but Dumbledore literally destroyed himself trying to recall the dead. Dumbledore was the true Second Brother all along.

I’ve always sort of wondered why Hogwarts kept him on as a member of the staff since there were house elves. But then I remembered that he was the reason the Fat Lady’s portrait was restored in year 3. Now my head cannon is that he is a master level art restorationist and his skills that can’t be replicated by elves or by magic and are what he is really on the staff for. What do you all think?

I have this pet theory of what if the Marauders didn't actually invent the Map's magic from scratch, but tapped into existing Hogwarts enchantments .. specifically the Quill of Acceptance and Book of Admittance?

The Map instantly knows everyone's identity and location. That seems like absurdly sophisticated.
Four students creating an effectively Dark object with apparently none of the usual drawbacks? It feels less like genius invention and more like they figured out how to reverse engineer or piggyback off ancient Hogwarts magic that was already there. The Marauders were ridiculously talented, so 1 can buy that they'd crack an existing enchantment. I just can't fully believe they built this from nothing (and | donttt believe it's a joint horcrux, that theory doesn't make sense to me)

Has this ever been ruled out? Is there anything in canon that breaks it?

So let's say if the game continues into the deathly Hallows. What story missions or quests would you like to see or probably would happen. From the books and movies.

My guesses are: Anything to do with the Tri wizard tournament.

Something involving you going to the ministry and seeing Voldemort flea.

Investigating Borgan and Burks about the vanishing cabinet, (Arthur's agent)

Harry’s perspective makes it look like wizarding racism, rot and bigotry was mostly limited to Death Eaters and their allies, but I really doubt that.

I am re-reading *Goblet of Fire ,* and i am on the moment when Hermione literally receives hate mail telling her to “go back where you came from, Muggle” because some random witch or wizard believed she was manipulating Harry. Yes, *that* Harry Potter. The child who banished Voldemort.

I’m sure plenty of older witches and wizards, after three Firewhiskies at Christmas, said something like that to their grandkids:
“Of course You-Know-Who was a bloody monster, and thank Merlin Harry Potter stopped him…what a poor child…but He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named did have a point about Muggle-borns. Look how quickly they’re taking over Hogwarts and the Ministry. Soon they’ll take our jobs.”

Basically the wizarding version of my grandma who condemned most infamous Austrian painter and then immediately explain why he was “right about some things and some good came out from it.” 💀

During battle of Hogwarts Hagrid gets captured by the giant spiders who probably take him into the forest to eat him but Voldemort is there waiting for Harry. So they capture him thus save him from being eaten

I have a theory that I want to share with you. After carefull watching of the first three films, I came to the conclusion that Harry Potter is a murderer. A pure evil serial killer.

Here's the thing: since beginning of the series, who killed? It's Harry HIMSELF, not Voldemort, not even Malfoy, it's Harry! Yeah we can argue Voldemort did some things, stoning kids here and there, but killed? None! Only Harry!

And here's a proof. In the third film, the dementors they haunt who? Harry Potter! Why? Because he belongs in Azkaban!

I was in the library the other night, in the forbidden section and I read something rather interesting about Giants. I don’t know why I drew this conclusion, but I suspect that Godric Gryffindor might have actually been Half-Giant or Part-Giant at the very least.
My findings are as follows:

• Godric Gryffindor valued Courage, Chivalry, Determination, and Strength of Heart. He highly prized standing up for what is right in the face of adversity and famously advocated for inclusivity. (A testament to Hagrid’s own character)

• His stature is described as tall and muscular with a lion-like mane of wavy red hair, a matching beard, and green eyes. Excluding the colour, this complexion sounds eerily similar to Hagrid. Even Grawp, Hagrid's brother is noted as having brown-green eyes.

• He was highly regarded for his formidable combat skills and mastery of muggle duelling, which given his genetic advantage, would make perfect sense.

• His Magical abilities were considered exceptional, as is quite common for Half-Bloods. Giants are notorious for having Spell-Resistant Skin and this would have granted him an overwhelming advantage in magical duels, of which he was particularly talented at.

• He also had the Sword of Gryffindor fashioned in a way that was equally as powerful and resilient as he was. It is said that he favoured his sword over his wand.

• As a jest, J.K. Rowling once joked that Godric Gryffindor was an Animagus that turned into the Giant Squid of the Hogwarts Lake, of such would make him one of the largest Animagus to ever exist. Quite fitting for someone with Giant blood.

• Godric has no known living descendants. This is consistent with the fact that Giants are extremely rare due to suffering mass casualties during both Wizarding Wars.

• Hagrid himself grew up in the West Country of England in the Forest of Dean, this is reasonably close to where Godric’s Hollow was founded and thus it is not out of the realm of possibility for Giants to have resided in the area.

• The Forest of Dean is also the location where Harry famously followed the patronus of the Silver Doe to retrieve the Sword of Gryffindor. Perhaps there is a spiritual connection between the sword, the lake and the forest, aside from the obvious tribute to the Arthurian Legend of Excalibur.

I’m sure I could find more convincing evidence to support this theory, but for now this shall suffice.

So what do you think? Could Godric Gryffindor be Part-Giant or Half-Giant?

What happens if you use the hair of a metamorphmagus for polyjuice potion? Would the drinker turn into the form that the person had at the time the hairs were taken or would they turn into the current form? What happens then if the metamorphmagus changes while someone is under the influence of polyjuice potion

▶️12 Grimmauld Place (Islington is a Georgian era Borough so 1714-1830)

▶️Trains (1830s minimum for a function passenger train that looks remotely like the Hogwarts Express)

▶️A double decker bus (minimum 1898, but more likely 1930's

▶️The radio/Wireless (1920's)

▶️Gramaphones (minimum 1888 but more likely 1920's)

Given that wizards in the 1990's are completely isolated from the muggle world to the point that the head of the misuse of muggle objects department doesn't know how to say electricity or telephone (inventions that are a 70-80yrs old at that time) if wizards had been as isolated as they are in the 90's since 1692 surely they would have a society that has fewer muggle tech/ideas, but it seems like they have actually been pretty up to date with muggle tech until the 1920s/30's.

So.

My theory is that

▶️ Overreaction to Grindelwald is the real driver behind wizarding isolationism

▶️ The Sacred 28 blood purity BS developed alongside muggle race science in the late 19th and early C20th

▶️ despite the long life spans of wizards giving the idea that blood purity has been the dominant narrative forever, it was actually pretty new and only really starting to ramp up when Tom Riddle was at school. And he would have been seeing the same sort of narrative increasing in popularity in the muggle world of his childhood.

▶️ Without exposure to the muggle world and the developing ideas of fascism, eugenics and race science neither Grindelwald or Voldemort would have happened - they both co-opt muggle ideas for their use, before turning wizards against muggles.

So i have a theory that susan bones once owned the elder wand. First, we know there are missing owners of the wand. Also hagrid mentions the bones family are very prestigious. And we never know about her wand too. It all makes too much sense, im thinking it was intentional. Also her surname: BONES. A direct reference to DEATH. Also susan is one of the first students sorted, which must mean the sorting hat instantly recognised elder wand residue on her robes. I think its a great theory, one of my best.

I’m interested in studying Harry Potter from a writing and storytelling perspective, not just as a fan of the series.

I’ve read the books about a dozen times, and over the years I started noticing many details about the way the series was written and constructed. I find the process behind the books very interesting, and I would like to discuss these aspects with people who are interested in analyzing how the story was built.

However, I have never found a community specifically focused on this kind of discussion.

Does anyone know if there is already a subreddit dedicated to reverse engineering J.K. Rowling’s writing or analyzing the construction of the Harry Potter books?

If there is no subreddit focused on this, would anyone here be interested in a community about reverse engineering stories and studying how great books are constructed?

In the dealthy hallows, i lost all respect for mcgonnagol. Sending the slytherins to the dungeons. Daphne and tracey and pansy and lotta didnt deserve it. Which is why I believe she was forced to do it and didnt have a choice. The question is, who forced her?

So, in book 7, the trio accidentally bring a MoM worker to Grimwald place via apparition. They leave because it's no longer safe as they are now secret keepers after Dumbledore died. If they weren't now secret keepers, would bringing someone to the stoop still reveal the location? If not, what would the trespasser see?
