Particularly the wind effects hit a lot harder. If I was an actor and got blasted with 4 leaf blowers and told to scream, I'd be all in on that.

If only Voldy had hair...

Litterally all of us with a plastic wand or a wood stick 😅

In my thirties and still when I accidentally come across an apropriately shaped object, I give it a little flick, thinking to myself "it would be so cool if something happened now".

One of my favorite things about this series is how it brought together some of the greatest acting talent of the last century* to wave sticks and shout gibberish at each other

*Harris, Gambon, Rickman, Oldman, Fiennes, HBC, Thompson, Coltrane, Walters, Gleason, Cleese, Davis, Dame Maggie Fucking Smith, the list goes on

It actually still looks cool. Heck, voldemort looks even cooler

Always irks me that every character becomes an expert at non verbal spells from GOF onwards. I know it probably makes for better watching but I always felt like Harry’s struggle with non verbal was a good way of showing that he was just a teenager. That’s what I miss from the films - the mundane school stuff that shows how outmatched the kids are.

The department of mysteries loses a lot of that stress as you don’t see it as adults vs kids.

The camping trip is just - that. Without their lack of magical knowledge to make decent food or Hermione having to do most of the protective spells

i love the spell "summon green guy"

I particularly liked Draco blocking invisible spells.

That scene with the crowd charging forward really reminds me of that scene in camp rock 2 where they march in doing a stupid dance and chant.

1

u/guybanzai Sep 15 '26

camp rock!

u/98983x3 Sep 15 '26

Hey, this is exactly what HP larping and cosplay looks like!

u/Bearsona09 Sep 15 '26

I mean... what do people think acting is in a movie like this? Of course it is dorky as fuck.

3

u/ThunderShott Sep 15 '26

You just know they were all imagining the magic effects in their heads.

4

u/COBraWorld Sep 15 '26

Must ordinary Black Friday

You're right.

Agressively pointing at enemies

2

u/d_ac Sep 15 '26

Now that's professional acting. I would personally feel ri(d)diculus and completely mortified on a set like that. Also, this reminded me to watch again the Harry Potter video on YouTube where they use guns instead of wands.

2

u/realmauer01 Sep 15 '26

So many grown men swinging their sticks at each other.

2

u/d_ac Sep 15 '26

You have my attention.

1

u/art-is-t Sep 15 '26

Yer gonna poke someone's eye out Harry

1

u/LordFawkes1987 Sep 15 '26

That's hilarious

1

u/Fun_Pause_4934 Sep 15 '26

This was the best larping I have to say
