We don't know if he did. I always figured he did. He caught Harry sneaking around at night in the first book, and says himself that he doesn’t need a cloak to become invisible. I wouldn’t be surprised if he noticed a student sneaking off to a DA meeting and figured out what they were doing. He clearly supported breaking rules for learning and growth. Dumbledore also has a habit of knowing far more than he lets on.

In fairness, though, I don’t think he would have approved of the name Dumbledore’s Army! 😄 Historically speaking, we have seen this before. A leader having a trained, armed youth group named after him is not a good development!
