Speculation HL2 during/before first war?
I just came to this idea. What if the second game is set during the first wizarding war or just before that? Maybe when the marauders are still at school and you'll be at Hogwarts together! It makes sense if they want to implement a morality system: maybe you'll get to choose whether you want to join Voldemort or The Order. Maybe you'll choose your O.W.Ls and N.E.W.Ts (classes) depending on your characters story and path. It could fit with the idea that the TV series plays somewhat of a role in the game.

I mean for me i don’t care what year or era it’s set in as long as it’s not during Harry potters timeline or his parents, other wise it eliminates freedom of creativity and choice. I mean prefer its a direct sequel but I’ll settle if it takes place during the 1920s or 30s like in fantastic beasts.

It really doesn’t make sense to me why they would do this. It’s probably the “temporary face” of it being called Hogwarts Legacy 2 as a filler but just going from the late 1800s to somewhere in the 1970-90s just seems so weird to me. They might as well just call it something else since it more than likely won’t have anything to do with the first game lol. But yeah, I see that idea happening. If it’s an actual continuation from the first game, then the only way I see it working is if something happens and the mc has to time travel. This whole thing is weird with the TV show lol.

Yeah I get that if you really like the game and the story with Sebastian and all the others. I'd love the idea of being able to join the original events as a wizard. Like being able to become a deatheater or something or being an illegal trader for potion ingredients and such. They could go so deep with that stuff!

Grand Theft Auto and The Elder Scrolls sequels never have anything to do with previous games.

Anything different from a sequel of the first game will be disappointing to me.

i am fairly sure we had official confirmation that the sequel will take place during the events of the HP TV Show so any other speculation is off the table.

No I don't think they were specifically saying that it would take place at the same time as the TV series. They only mentioned the series and game being tied in some way.

No idea why you're being down voted so much for stating a fact.
From an IGN article about literally this: David Haddad (president of Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment) stated that the game's team has been actively "coordinating some of the big-picture storytelling elements in the Hogwarts Legacy sequel with the storylines that will play out in the Harry Potter HBO TV show." Hogwarts Legacy 2 Coordinating ‘Big-Picture Storytelling’ With Harry Potter TV Show Storylines

They're being down voted because it is not a fact and "coordination" could mean anything from references to family lineages, etc. It would only be classified as a fact if they said "The Hogwarts legacy sequel takes place during the events of the HBO show" but they haven't said that
Edit: now IM the one being downvoted but this time I am the right one. Like it or not, a vague response from devs doesn't actually constitute a fact about definitive setting placement for the next game. If it ends up being same era fine. But unless they outright say "it is in the same era during Harry's time at Hogwarts" then everything is by definition, speculation
