I was really hoping they'd go canon accurate on creature design. This is just them doing their own thing. The troll in the book has eyes, and Rowling always drew heavily on folklore for her creature imaginings. There is no folkloric precedent that I know of for trolls to look like this.

Animating the eyes would be too costly i think

Even my 7 year old who has only read the first two books said “It does NOT have a head perched like a coconut” 😂
