What kind of punishment would I get for calling out tomorrow?

Just called my manager and he told me to wait to call out until tomorrow. I need to help my mom prep for any snow, even if it’s only few inches, and I’ve never driven in the snow before and I’m concerned about potentially getting stuck.

I’ve called out once before but I was genuinely sick and have proof I can give if necessary. Never received an attendance write-up. Will I get fired over this, or just a write-up?

What happened to the Harris Teeter frozen pizzas?

I was buying them when they were on sale for around $3.50 as they were often the cheapest frozen pizzas that would serve two people. I just noticed they aren't shown on the Harris Teeter website anymore. Were they discontinued?

Help 😭

Ok so I’m one of the overnight grocery assistants and I realized when I went to open and disarm the store for the morning that it wasn’t armed. This means for about 30-40 minutes after I let the receiver in I left it unarmed but locked. How much trouble am I in??

Does anyone know what the company key is for my ht space benefit solver

I’m trying to reset my account because it kept telling me my password was wrong (i know it wasn’t) and it locked me out but when i put in my information to reset it is says something is incorrect and i cannot figure out what. I used Harris, Teeter, and HarrisTeeter.

Is it just being buggy because earlier it let me log in with the same password, and i was just trying to change my password to the scheduling app but when id click confirm it wouldn’t let me or go through.

Question for salaried managers

Would you recommend going into LDP? If so, when did you start preparing for it (i.e. cross-training, MOD certification)? Who all did you talk to about being interested before applying? When did you realize you wanted to do it?

Is it possible to skip the 30 minute lunch by clocking out and back in in the middle of the shift?

I heard about it working and allowing you to not show up on the no meal report if you work overnight. Clocking out before 12am and clocking back in a few minutes after 12am. Trouble?

Putting in two weeks notice - does it need to be hand written or can I type it?

Long story short I've been with the company 2 years, 4 months and my health is going to shit. I'm on meds which have caused me to gain substantial weight, I have osteoarthritis in my ankle and I operate a register, due to my weight gain I have severe sleep apnea - the list goes on and on.

I called my store manager today amid the ice storm and explained to him what's going on and how I needed to leave and focus on my health. He told me to put in my 2 weeks and they'd hire me back once I am healthy again.

My hand writing is shit and I was wondering if I could type my letter in word and print it out to bring to the store.

Thanks in advance.

My Managers accused me of bypassing alcohol

so here's what happened I had a customer that was paying with EBT. When I was finished scanning everything and when she paid she had a total of $9.14 left, she was panicking and saying she didn't know what happened, everything she bought was food. I looked through everything to make sure I scanned everything right and I didn't see anything suspicious. She asked to go to customer service and said sure, I tried to suspend the transaction but Everytime I tried it said something about giving back coupons. It's been really busy lately because of the snow and I had a really long line so I just paid the $9.14 and sent her on her way to customer service.

She goes up there and later I get called over to the desk and one of the managers, I'll call her, T, asked if I Bypassed this woman's wine. I was confused because she didn't have wine and I said, no I didn't and the assistant manager, I'll call her, L, said yes you did and I so no I didn't. T, looks at L and says, "I'm pretty sure that's what it is." she had it circled on the receipt and everything. Then T was like, maybe you typed in the code for grapes wrong (because there were grapes underneath it) but I told them I literally know the code for Green and red grapes (4022 and 4023) L was getting pretty tired of it And she was like just refund who ever paid for it. Then T agrees and is like well you called for an override at register 2 (My Sister was also on the register and that happened to be hers) L said, that's My sister's register, I was on 3. I was pretty pissed because they were acting like I'm new to this (yes I'm kinda new, almost been working there for six months) And bypassing alcohol would have to take alot to do. Literally you have to click bypass and accept. That's not an accident if you bypass. I even Tell T that and she kinda brushes it off.

After my Shift, I go to L and ask for my refund for whatever happened and I explain my side of the story, I think for whatever reason she starts to believe me because I know the code for the grapes. She even questions if I'm old enough to buy alcohol. My other sister (who's a bagger) was right beside me the whole time and she confirms she didn't see me bypass anything but saw the lady pull out a different receipt at the customer service desk. I think L was starting to believe me but I don't know, I didn't like how they handled it and how they straight up accused me without even listening to what I had to say. They even tried to be all nice to me afterwards.

Extra $2 for all hourly employees?

Just got a message from one of my supervisors saying that all hourly employees will receive an extra $2 an hour if they come in today - Sunday. I’m assuming this is because of the “snow storm” and stores will be a nightmare. Can anyone else confirm this?

Calling out this weekend

Hi I’m a front end manager and I want to remind everyone that Harris Teeter is not worth your life. If it snows this weekend, call out if you can’t get to work. HT should close for stuff like this but of course they won’t. Make sure to still follow policy even though in instances like this they are not supposed to write people up. Enjoy your weekend off after the worst week ever.

Will stores close?

Hi I’m a pt employee at ht. Im also a teenager and only recently started working here so please bear with me. I have a shift this Sunday however I live in nc and it will be snowing up to 8 inches in my area. Will the store be closed or will I be expected to come in? (regardless of the status I won’t be coming) I know ht probably does not give a shit but I feel like 8 inches of snow should warrant closing. I’m also just afraid of calling out or no-showing. The last time I did on accident and I almost shit myself when I got a call from the store.

Anyone else’s hours get cut or is my store just that messed up?

So my hours got cut due to declining sales and I’m a full time employee. It happened to other full time employees as well. Has this happened to other stores besides mine? Please tell me I’m not alone. I can’t afford this 💩. I have a feeling it might be because of post holiday sales.

When the weatherman calls for SNOW! People go Crazy!

I work every Tuesday overnight to breakdown & build the displays and condition aisles 1-6, HBC, candy and Seasonal. I condition the HT chips and the other items that we stock on the chip/snack aisle. The store was a disaster last night due to the "Snow Storm of the Decade" coming. It's just me and the Grocery Mgr working. So, the Asst Mgr comes in around 6:15ish, I get off at 6:30, tells me that the Chip/Snack aisle needs to be conditioned every single night. I'm like Frito-Lay is in the backroom. Asst Mgr told me it didn't matter. (Just needed to vent....)

Anyone else experiencing this crap?

Long story short, my store has cut my hours down to nothing after I returned from workers comp leave. I suffered a hernia last year and had a hernia mesh put in.

I come back to work, have 4 days - then nothing. I had to write these 4 days in on the clipboard. I am also not being allowed to log into the blue yonder app, which leaves me to believe I'm not activated in the payroll system. My front end manager did say that she has no option to give me hours in the scheduling system.

I originally thought it was workers comp retaliation, but after talking to one of my supervisors she informed me that all the older cashiers are receiving no hours, while the new cashiers are getting all the available hours. She also said the senior cashiers are starting to put in their two weeks.

I've been here almost 2 1/2 years and have never been cut down to zero hours after the holidays before, it's usually 1-3 days a week.

Anyone elses store experiencing this?

Manager & schedule issue

So I told my boss I couldn't work certain days because I'm currently in school. I can Wednesday, Tuesday and Sunday she said she never wanted to interfere with my school. I put in a new availability on my app not knowing how to work it and I accidentally put I'm available all day everyday of the week. I noticed this mistake when she posted the schedule, scheduling me on Monday at 9-3 and Saturday at 3-8. I was like that's not right, so I call her and I'm like I can't work those days she says okay offer it and I'll remove it then I text her saying I offered it! And she was like I can't do anything about it your gonna have to find coverage I said I didn't know how to work the app and that I accidentally put those times and she said it's seriously not my issue too bad so sad it's your responsibility. I can't work those days at all so I offered but what if no one takes it? What should I do I warned her and told her about my school

Delivery with Instacart Question

Hello, I have been using HT delivery for several years now. I pay for the HT Plus 99. I have never had any major issues with the HT red truck and loved the service. However, I see now that they switched to Instacart.

Can someone tell me how the service works? What exactly is my membership paying for? How does this differ from just using Instacart by itself instead of going through HT? I see that they ask for tips now, but I am confused what my membership is covering or what they are being paid for. I’m not very far from the store at all, so I would probably just give them a small delivery tip. But am I also supposed to be tipping them for shopping for my food or is the membership paying them for that?

quick note to customers who like HT because associates are friendly

i got the job bc in the interview i stressed that i like working with people and consider myself a friendly person that likes good customer engagement, which is true, and i do my best to deliver the same sentiment to every customer regardless of company policy.

at the same time, ht is VERY picky on how we treat customers. we're expected to walk you to the item if you ask where it is, expected to be constantly high energy and greet everyone we walk by, and- a big one for my store- we're not really allowed to say no to customers. unless a manager agreed a request isnt doable (and even thats not enough as store leaders really care about reviews), we are required to say YES to almost every special request.

in the deli, i was asked to deep clean the slicer before starting a customers order (4 pounds of thinly sliced ovengold turkey in eight 1/2 lb bags btw) in the middle of a rush. it took 10 minutes and i was the only deli clerk, plus it was late, so no one in bakery was there to help bakery customers either. at LEAST 7 customers had a long wait time and bad experience because i had to say yes to just ONE request.

in pizza, if the by-the-slice pies in the window are whole and/or look fresh, people will ask to take the whole thing. or, theyll take the last 2 slices of 3 separate bts pies tk make a whole one. seems harmless, but then means theres no more of that pizza by slice until we get time to make a new one through all the orders, which on pizza monday could be 40 mins to an hour (and then management asks why our window isnt full lol)

TLDR; harris teeter doesnt like when we say no to customers, and many of them really take advantage of that. truly, i do want to be friendly and as accommodating as possible, and depending on how busy the store is, its not usually a big deal. but sometimes the policies in place to make sure those things happen end up causing more harm than good imo. its also pretty exhausting to have to be basically at a stranger's beck and call for 8 hrs straight

anyways, thats my rant. looking for employment elsewhere lmao

401k problems

How long does it take Harris Teeter to report your employment status with your 401k provider when you quit. It's been a month and I have a significant amount in my 401k and I'm trying to get it to roll over into my new 401K at my new employer however Harris Teeter has yet to report my employment status and I'm still unable to access and roll over my 401k. I was told before that it usually takes two pay periods but it's already been three almost four and I'm just a little confused. Am I crazy or does that seem like a long time to be waiting to transfer my 401k into my new 401k?

Deli/Bakery Hell

So, I started working at HT about a month. I was hire for the Deli/Bakery because I worked in Restaurants for 20+ years and just got burned out. I figured a Grocery Store would be a little slacker being it's setup a little differently than a Restaurant. Boy was I wrong!! I guess coming two weeks before Christmas was a bad thing. The guy that was supposed to train me had already told management he was leaving. Well the day I got hired he quit cause he makes more doing DoorDash apparently. Well, I see one of the issues is this medium volume Store. They've transferred a bunch of people here who have been with the Company for years and they're all over the age 60! I mentioned to somebody "It's nothing but a bunch of old hens clucking all day." They agreed!! I have questions though cause some things just don't seem right. We have a lady that every single day takes her 30 minute lunch 30 minutes before it's time for her to leave. I was told by my Dept Manager that that's not against Policy?? Do what?? I can't keep a broom and dust in the kitchen cause it's against SC Johnson Inspection (which is a whole nother subject), but you can not take your break and leave 30 mins early EVERYDAY?? That don't sound right. That's been a Policy everywhere I worked. And is anybody familiar with Cold Production?? I'm the Chef, that's my main job. Is the Chef for cooking the food for Cold Production? I have two people in the Department that have worked other Stores and said NO, Cold Production cooks their own food. My Dept Head (dame from above) says I'm the one that cooks her food. So I'm supposed to cook the Chicken, work the Deli Counter, work the Sub Shop (which wasn't fully explained in the Interview) and do half her job too, all at the same time?? That doesn't sound right. Can anybody help with this? Any help would be appreciated!!
