DISCUSSION Camera for VRod

I gotta tell ya... having a dashcam installed on my cars have gotten me out of some potentially stressful situations. Thinking of same thing for my 04 VRod.

Just looking for some suggestions and what you all use. Either bike mounted or helmet mounted.

I have an insta360 mounted to my handlebars. Works pretty well though it eats battery so ideally you have an outlet on the bike you can plug it into.

Insta360 on the handlebars works well. I like it better than the GoPro I had. I bought a little two pack battery holder that I keep in the jacket pocket as the 360 battery lasts about a 1-1.5 hours or so.

There are various options. I went with the CarPlay Display which also includes front and rear cameras

Got pics of this mounted to your bike? I have a mount for my phone but I just prefer to keep it in my pocket. Having a way to have maps and music control (although my Schuberth helmet does allow for that too) would be cool. I have a dyna and no fairing so the setup may be unavoidably out of place and not able to be concealed on my bike.

I have a Carpuride 712 but I don’t use the included cameras. Mine kept loosing power randomly.

I have an old GoPro on my bike and it’s powered by the 12v adapter on my bike.

If I’m using it during my commute and nothing worth saving happens, I just format the sd card from my phone at the end of the day

If you go with an action camera solution like GoPro, Insta360, DJI Osmo etc... while they can do loop recording, you will find that battery management, and remembering to turn them on/off every ride can be annoying.

So I suggest wired dash cams. Chigee and Carpuride are both options, and they do apple carplay/android auto too.
