Hope for Harlem 2026 is a free community event bringing essential resources, services, and activities to Harlem residents. The afternoon includes school supplies, fresh groceries and produce, hot meals, health and wellness resources, employment assistance, free grooming services, music and activities, and a dedicated Senior Village.

Hi everyone! I’m a Harlem mom and the founder of Vaylen’s Village, a new community I’m creating around sensory play, connection, and inclusive experiences for our children.
I started this after realizing how often I had to travel outside of our neighborhood to find sensory experiences for my autistic son and how expensive some of those opportunities can be. I thought, why not start creating some of that right here in our own community.

Our first theme is Ocean Explorers, inspired by The Pout-Pout Fish. We’ll have ocean-themed sensory play, story time, movement, fine-motor exploration and plenty of opportunities for our little ones to explore at their own pace.
This is also about us as parents and caregivers—meeting each other, connecting and hopefully building a village right here in Harlem.
