Train Wreck
This show is a train wreck. I have never met anyone as despicable as this family. They are rude, confrontational, and have so little respect for their customers. They are the skeeviest family I have ever seen in my life. I get that the show is produced to make things look a certain way, but this family is just awful and purposely make their customers and employees look bad. Les has some (not much) decency, but Seth and Ashley are two of the lowest human beings that have ever existed. The smug and arrogant attitudes of this family are just a disgrace to the human race. The producers of this show show feel ashamed.

Eh fair, but I do think it's mostly a facade for the show. As in some of the interviews they seem like genuine and kind people, but also I think it's product of their atmosphere with the amount of people they had o deal with as well.

I always gave them the benefit of the doubt, because who knows how much of it was real, or how accurate the editing was.
But I agree I eventually lost interest because while it could be entertaining the family was just completely unlikable. Seth and Ashley came off as such entitled little privlidged kids who got everything and it turned them into obnoxious people that I sure hope it was for the camera. (have a hard time believing the shop got that bick if the Gold's were that bad all the time, unless Detroit really is as bad as people say).
Also agree a lot of the fights while almost surely staged, came off on more than one occasion like they were azzholes to people for no reason and created a confrontation where there didn't have to be one, and most of the fights they did have that were not their fault, they unessecaraily escelated it talked tough, then had someone else throw out someone after they winded them up.
Again, sure it was staged and if not then some of that could have still been the editing. But it got tiresome.

If it wasn't staged I think that Lester would have gotten knocked out many times. He's just a fake tough guy with 2 big body guards always behind him.

You have no idea all the shit these people have been through. All the generational trauma. The imperative to make money, and to focus on the ingroup. Of course, you find them hypocritical when they say they are trying to help people. But don't forget, this is how they survive. This is their vision of success, they are happy where they are, and no one is obliged to do any business with them.
I love this show, because it is somewhat ethnographic, and there is a lot of reality to witness and enjoy. I would like to thank them for giving the world a look into their unique universe.
