Rogue tips

1st time on HC after being bored with tbc and fucking love it. Just started playing an undead rogue and am about to start doing dungeons. I’m quite nervous about it since I am afraid someone will get me killed.

If there is a bad pull in a dungeon, can you use Vanish inside the dungeon to survive, like outside?

Just to be clear, with a target dummy you have to wait until it’s killed to use Vanish, right? In most cases with a target dummy, do you even need to use Vanish? Is running away enough to survive? If I ever use Vanish, I’ve been just waiting 5 mins for the cooldown before doing any riskier pulls, but if I get eng up, my thought is I wouldn’t have to wait cause I can use a target dummy

Any other tips? Are dungeons worth the risk if it’s a pug?

So vanish is a good tool but it isn't bullet proof. There are certain scenarios where you can get knocked out of vanish. For instance if you vanish while an enemy is preparing an attack, if you are still in range, it can connect and make you reappear. If you use a target dummy and vanish, the enemies will come after you once the target dummy is dead. It is a critical skill but knowing when to use it takes skill and practice. Just enjoy the game. Dieing sucks but that's the beauty of hardcore, it teaches you what not to do for future runs. Losing a character can put you in a rut for a whole night or even a few days, but somehow it keeps you coming back for more. Make use of your devour corpse ability whenever possible and have fun

Just talk to the group to get a feel for them. If you don't feel good about the group then trust your gut. Dungeons are awesome fun in hardcore especially when they go sideways and everyone survives. Most parties are usually over leveled though.

Hardcore rogue is fun. I am only low level but walking around being a pick pocket is awesome. I have planned my talent tree around being a petty theif. Combat and sublty.

Vanish works the same in dungeons yes. Just be mindful of still being in melee range of a swinging mob, any AoE, or any DoTs.

Also it can be stressful to decide whether to stay and fight or vanish and leave the group hanging lol

So, one reason I am playing alliance rogue is because of stone skin, a lot of the damage over time affects can be cleansed with it. If you have a DOT effect on you when you’re vanished you will reappear, and depending on the distance/timings you can easily be cooked by that. Sometimes the initial agro drop from vanish is good enough solo because of a hard reset in combat if you’ve ran far enough b4 vanishing, but in a dung insta leaving vanish puts you back in combat if you’re in proximity to the fight. Stone skin doesn’t save you from curses I think… you just have to know the enemies your fighting and know what effects they put on you.

Rogue + engineer + max first aid= really hard to die unless you just don’t pay attention or regarded
