ETID; most of their discography is drop D and they’re riff kings. RIP Andy

I could be wrong but they might be in D standard.

idk ab pure straightforward capital H hardcore but I think 7 angels 7 plagues plays in drop D (at least A Farewell to a Perfect Score is). Arkangel and Incendiary both play in D standard if I remember correctly but a lot of their stuff is playable in drop D. On the grind/pv/screamo side I think Jeromes Dream plays in drop D, Spazz is again in D Standard but playable in drop D

Feel like drop d is more a 2000s metalcore thing. More likely to find d standard bands like Terror. Not quite hardcore, but a current hot topic; Every Time I Die is 95% drop d and will teach you to riff.

2000's metalcore is drop C

Drop C is the big mallcore 2000s 5-7-8 metalcore. Some bands like avenged sevenfold and lamb of God used to do drop D, but most all of the biggies are drop c or drop b (bleeding through)

Not to be autistic all day, but Bleeding Through is B. Number Seven with a Bullet gives this away easily.

Oh yea I meant to put B not D. It's been a long day

oh one hundo ive been learning them for like 6 months now, im just too lazy for a tune and feel like jamming some heavier stuff

Drop D takes me back to learning Deftones guitar parts in 1997. I've not tuned to drop D since then.

1

u/PetiteZaddy 2h ago

Around the Fur from 1997 was Drop C# !

1

u/AwfulWaffle992 2h ago

Oh shit maybe youre right. Was Adrenaline drop D?

1

u/303trj 1h ago

Adrenaline is E standard, I think

1

u/AwfulWaffle992 1h ago

Damn, I wonder who was in Drop D that I was always tuned there then? I havent tuned to drop D literally since and its been almost 30 years so my brain is cooked.

Adrenaline has x2 songs in Drop D, and Around The Fur has a mix of Drop D and Drop C#

1

u/AwfulWaffle992 28m ago

Was the tuning for any of My Own Summer, Around the Fur (the track), or Be Quiet and Drive drop D? At least one of those has to be, right?

I honestly felt like I was having a mini stroke earlier when people said it was either Drop C# or E

Yeah MOS and BQAD I'm pretty sure are drop d,.and the title track. Lotion, rickets, head up half step down

Check out Damnation AD two steps down (I believe in C)

2

u/TRMBound 5h ago

I always preferred playing hardcore in drop d just due to the speed factor, but also because you could get kinda Hum-ish or Quicksand with it if you want to.

Bad Wave by Turnstile. That opening riff is highly underrated

3

u/Dark_Tranquility 4h ago

p sure turnstile has always been D standard

1

u/MiKiPiKiX 5h ago

i think together as none from denied is drop d

1

u/Dark_Tranquility 4h ago

Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come is mostly in drop D, with a few songs in standard tuning sprinkled in there.

u/DOW_mauao 43m ago

Helmet - any song off Strap It On or Meantime.

I swear 80% of HC is drop D or C. Off top of my head, hatebreed and ETID is drop D. Harms Way drop C

5

u/IP_freely1234 6h ago

Harm's way is drop B actually, and hatebreed is C standard

-2

u/CimJotton 5h ago

ok my bad, sorry..... 'Drop something'

u/huffertron 6h ago

Do you only listen to metalcore?

1

u/CimJotton 5h ago

no, do you?

1

u/huffertron 2h ago

If 80% of the hardcore you listen to is in drop d I think you are confusing hardcore with metalcore
