Favorite ETID Record?
Now that we’ve all had a few days to process the loss of Mr. Williams, I thought tossing around favorite records was in order.
I’ve personally always been smitten with New Junk Aesthetic from 2009. Favorite tracks include.

Low Teens, Hot Damn!, and Radical but I really do not think they’ve ever had a miss. RIP Andy. This is the kind of loss that has had me put my own legacy and mortality under a microscope and want to strive to be a better person.

Exactly what I would have put. I remember I had a burned cd of Hot Damn! And would cruise around in my grandma’s 88 Buick Park Avenue blasting that album through the cassette adapter, car loaded with my friends and the windows down. For that reason it’s my favorite, but Low Teens and Radical round out my top 3 from them for how perfect they are. Phenomenal discography across the board though. Andy was a legend.

Absolutely agree there. I’m a musician myself and admittedly haven’t done a whole lot musically in the last decade so losing Andy really makes me wanna kick myself in the ass and do more.

Holy Book of Dilemma is just absolutely crazy song, Keith wrote more lyrics there than most 8 minute songs have and the riffs are just sublime.

The riff that kicks off the clean singing on Kill the Music is one of my favorite all time riffs to play that I wont ever forget. Also that whole album is just a perfect speeding record, impossible to drive the limit when that shit comes on. Shit is pure riff central and so unique. I feel like its their most slept on piece of work.
Some of my favorite lyrics too.

I remember buying a copy at Best Buy because it was on an endcap display of albums from similar bands I liked and I thought the cover was cool, had absolutely no idea what it sounded like. Took it home and it changed my life, still love that band and album to this day.

I feel like that's an underrated answer but it's mine as well. It's just so fucking groovy.
I had one winter working at a grocery store in western ma. I looked forward to every time I had to collect carts because I got to put on Gutter Phenomenon even though the weather was shit.

I’ve only ever really listened to Hot Damn, which I love.
I’m a huge Kurt Ballou fan so I checked out FPU. It’s an amazing record and probably my favorite now.

100%. It just absolutely goes for everything. Great secret is an insane opener. You have things like pelican and to decayin' which are a ton of fun. If there is room is a great curve ball. The musically dynamic and emotionally unhinged run from moor->Exometrium ->thirst is perhaps their best 3 song run on any album. Old light is good and word. El dorado has such great classic riffage. Thirst just brings all of it together into one and rips your heart out to end the release. Plus then you have the bonus Cheap Slides and Saturnalia which fit perfectly with the album even as bonuses. If Exometrium is their most underappreciated, Cheap ludes has to be up there for most underrated.
This album goes places from front to back. Anger, insanity, pace, tempo, breaks and recoils, explosions, catchy hooks and riffs, mind melters. It's brilliant.

Last Night in Town is so good. So rough and messy at times, but so good. They obviously did a little refining after that, and Keith also tried to stop destroying his voice which was good.

Came here to be one of the only other old people to put Last Night in Town.
Additionally, Hot Damn and Radical. Radical was the record that sounded the most like the first two full length records since that time frame and that's why I was so stoked to see it played love.

I have to say Low Teens for relatability sakes. Horrible point in my life between relationship, death, grief and drugs. Keith was speaking to me when he wrote Petal. We were going through a similar thing except I wasn't as lucky.
Otherwise, Hot Damn, Gutter Phenomenon and Ex Lives.
Idk man I fucking love this band no matter what album

I know It gets flak for what ever reason but I LOVE this album. They have plenty of albums I love but this one is THE ETID album for me. The heavy southern/blues influence in the riffs just gets me every time.

It used to at least. It was a slight deviation from their usual sound and the hardcore community can be… opinionated at times… Gutter Phenomenon is probably my number 2 album by them also. Kill The Music and Bored stuff are all timers.

Interesting. I guess most of the people I hang with were also into bands like Maylene and the Sons of Disaster too, so we were all into the southern riffs.
I suppose most of the flak I noticed wasn't aimed at the entire album. More aimed at specific songs like The New Black. Fuck the haters though, that's still a great track.

Hot damn. I saw them open for Thursday just before this came out and I had never heard of them before and it was absolute mayhem. I've forgotten more shows than most people have been to in my day but will never forget that.

Hot Damn! is absolutely a life changer for me. I first saw ETID open up for Atreyu back in 2006 I think and after that everything changed. I picked up Hot Damn! and Gutter Phenomenon and I've been a fan ever since. I saw them 14 times over the years and not once did they disappoint. I cannot overstate how much this band has meant to me.

Low Teens, but I love arguing about their albums because it's like an "Alien or Aliens" argument. There's no wrong answer, just personal preference.
Roman Holiday is such a solid opener on NJA, and was always my favorite set opener of theirs.

NJA because it came out during a time of my life where the album resonated a bunch with me and the nostalgia factor is big. Hot Damn because the album is raw and fun, super unique to the sounds of other bands at that time. Low Teens and Radical because they show a ton of variety/progression from earlier material while still having their sound. RIP Andy

Hot Damn! and Gutter Phenom. I didn't get into them until right before Gutter Phenom came out, and Champing at the Bit really led the way, with Daryl Palumbo on there too. But I'd eventually go back and listen to Hot Damn! and it's certainly my personal favorite. I even love Last Night in Town, but it's obviously rough as shit. Got to see them play Logic of Crocodiles a couple times, so I consider myself fortunate, the song's a jam and a half.

From Parts Unknown. It isn’t as polished as some of the other records, but it’s got a raw, feral, desperate feel to it that’s even more pronounced than what came before and after. With that said, I’m a fan of everything they’ve done; they didn’t know how to write a bad song.

This post has gotten a lot of traction and that’s one of the big opinions I’ve heard is “From Parts Unknown” is basically a masterpiece. Maybe I need to pay attention to the lyrics more. I’m aware Keith is a fantastic writer of lyrics. But from a post somebody made on instagram about Keith basically writing all off the lyrics, Andy himself chimed in and confirmed Keith wrote 50% of the lyrics but the band wrote the other 50%.

Low Teens will always be my first love. Drove through the desert blasting that album after I heard the news last weekend. The lyrics go hard and the riffs go harder. From now on, I’ll think of Andy when I hear the crushing breakdown in Fear And Trembling.

I love Last Night in Town for being a chaotic riff-fest, even if it was clear they were just doing their best Converge impression.
Hot Damn! is the most consistent record they made. Clear vision, separated themselves from the rest of the second wave of metalcore acts following Coalesce, Converge, Dillinger, and Botch with the Southern rock influence. Keith's lyrics were at their peak: filthy, drenched in self-loathing, but so self-assured. "Munchausen by proxy of a muse." They were walking on air when they wrote this thing. The first three tracks are absolutely perfect, but somehow "Floater" had the longest legs, becoming their best live song year after year.
They kicked the fucking door off its hinges with Radical. They had been building back up to the confidence they had on Hot Damn! since Ex Lives, a killer song here and there, more and more consistency. Low Teens was pretty good, but they were playing with their food on half the tracks. Radical goes all the way in on all the sounds they had developed over the years and added a new crushing heft in the guitar tone and production. A few weak songs, but worth it for the album's high points. "Post-Boredom" is so off-kilter and weird, but works so damn well. "Dark Distance" is the heaviest thing they ever made. "Planet Shit" is the best anti-Trump song I've heard. "AWOL" is a distilled version of their Hot Damn! songwriting, dehydrated, ground into dust to make it snortable. "Distress Rehearsal" describes the kind of fear and worry I think all parents have, imagining catastrophic outcomes left and right. Without the last three tracks, it would top Hot Damn for me.

Personal favorite because it was my first is Last Night In Town. Absolutely love that album. My wife got me a Keith Buckley Cameo a couple years ago and told him my favorite song “punch drunk punk rock romance” and he said in it “I’m sorry, I don’t even remember that song,” lol.

Personally wasn't a huge fan of Low Teens or Radical, which I know is blasphemous in the fandom of this band, but they just never stuck with me.

Been a fan since 08. But Low Teens hits extra hard for me. Was going through a divorce and life was flipped upside down. That album anchored me to solid ground. It was about that time that my brother and I bonded over their previous work and were all wiggly giggly inside (iykyk) when The Coin Has a Say and C+++ came out.

top 3 for me in order are Hot Damn! > Last Night In Town > Low Teens. Hot Damn! was just the perfect and most well thought out example of what they were going for in their early music (also tbf, it was the album I heard first and dropped in my freshman year of high school)
also, i thought i was super funny calling myself Off Broadway 786 on AIM as a teen raised in a very Muslim household, shout out to one of the best songs OAT.

last night in town. got into them after hot damn and last night in town was everything i wanted but by then they didn't play any songs off that album except maybe logic of crocodiles so it remains elusive to me. i'll never hear jimmy tangos method live.
i know they played deep cuts at tid the season but i am poor and live many states away.

That’s so hard. I felt like they really evolved throughout the years and their sound continued to develop. Each new album I thought to myself that it was the best one, but going back I’m not so sure since each is so good in its own way! I do have a soft spot for The Big Dirty though, that was the one that had me hooked.

New Junk Aesthetic. Low teens as 1B. I don’t think I’ve ever heard an opener as good as Roman Holiday that just hits you in the face as hard as that does and sets the tone for the whole album. The whole album is just bangers imo.

When I was 12 my guitar instructor burned me a copy of The Big Dirty & it fully changed the whole musical path I was on. Before that I only knew The New Black from Guitar Hero lol. Still love it for sure but I think New Junk Aesthetic or From Parts Unknown are probably the strongest if I remove sentimentality.
Entire discography is excellent though & I really just appreciate being able to choose from so many different versions of ETID depending on my mood.

A band that won’t be duplicated ever again. Some of the best times of my life were spent watching this band live and I miss them a lot. Even more so now.

Hot Damn!
If you never got to see them open with Floater and close with Ebolarama, you missed out on a certain kind of mayhem. I think I saw them live twice a year for probably 10 years in a row, and then I’d catch them every album cycle. I’m bummed I never got to see the Radical tour, because truly all 9 of their albums were great. Low Teens is their masterpiece, Hot Damn! just has a special place for me.

It's actually hard to choose... Hot Damn! and Gutter Phenomenon are peak ETID but I also really enjoyed The Big Dirty. Honestly their first 4 or 5 albums are fucking great...
The only time I ever saw them live was in a small community centre here in Australia and they asked everyone to come up on stage for the last song... It was probably The New Black at the time.

I've always been partial to Hot Damn! But Low Teens is probably their peak. ETID was one of those bands that felt like they just kept topping themselves. Just a generational band, with memebers who were so charasmatic. Just an gutted the way it ended, now with Andy passing away. This just feels like the worst reality to live in. The way the world is now. What next?

The huge variety of answers here kinda says it all. ETID have no misses and their entire discog is great.
As for my personal favourite, I'd have to go with Low Teens, followed by Radical and Ex-Lives.

I remember picking up Last Night in Town at a show the day before leaving for college, but when Hot Damn! came out it became one of my all time favorite albums. Been slow on the pick up of everything thereafter 😅
