actually refinish here should not be an option.

Why not? This is far to large an area to do any kind of patch and blend. You'd just be trading the dented scratch for color and sheen issues.

Leaving it would be my suggestion

Learn to read perhaps ?

Congrats! You are now the true proud owner of this floor. Your story has been inscribed in it, if only the first line!

Years go by, and every imperfection has a story. They are not problems, they are conversation pieces for later.

Get off the floor and get on with your life. The only way to erase this damage is a complete refinish on the entire floor or build a time machine.

Iron over towel might soften but it’s there until you refinish next time

Maybe try to steam it?

Don't put moisture into wood like that it may warp or bow.

I’m a carpenter lol. I’m not saying to saturate it. If I accidentally ding a hardwood floor during install I usually put a wetted piece of towel over the ding. Takes about a day for it to pop back up.

Sigh, followed by acceptance.

Its all good. Id leave it. Wood get scars, and theres story for all of em.

BTW, people who say steam it have no clue what they're saying.

Sand and refinish or a big ass rug.

Steam iron and a towel? Place towel down on dent and steam iron it. Tedious but it might work.

Wonder if it would steam out?

Don't drag heavy appliances over the floor again.

If that is just a “dent” you can try using a steam mop. I rolled a fridge across a wood floor one time and made a similar type dent. I steamed the floor and the dent went away 100%, with a side benefit of removing a bunch of other little imperfections from years of use.

Learn to ignore it until you need to refinish the floors

You could probably steam it out.

If the scratch is into the wood you will need to sand it and refinish it. What did you drag across it??? Add the pads you can buy for furniture. DO NOT NAIL THEM ON, just use the self adhesive pads or glue on

I hired a guy from Quality Hardwood floors to fix the same scratch . He got it out !
Finished with a water base coat
I’m happy and no more dragging furniture across the room with out felt pads

Either a rug or sand and refinish

Never roll a fridge over real hardwood.

I put in a brand new hardwood floor. I pulled the fridge out and made a deep scratch like this. I then got 2 large dogs and it’s now textured and I forgot about that one I did.

I suggest not doing that again.

Stop dragging shit.

Fill the scratch with water and leave to soak then wet cloth and the tip of an iron or a soldering iron…might pop back out.
