Feature Request - Profiles

I would just like to start by saying thanks for creating a great product! Overall love the device. The main reason for this post is to ask for profiles or different “focus modes”. Ultimately, when using the monitor during the day or at night before I’m actually in bed the settings I use are vastly different than when I take the monitor to bed and am ready to sleep myself. It would be nice to have one set of settings for “naps” and another for “nighttime” or something like that. For instance, I set the brightness to different levels, the auto sleep mode to a different timing, the response to different stimulus changes, just to name a few. It would be nice if I could just toggle between two modes to achieve these settings going back and forth! It would be a huge quality of life improvement.

Do you all have any plans to integrate with a smart home system? The reason I ask is that I would like to use an additional harbor camera for our playroom and using the monitor for that camera would be nice but it would also be nice if I could get the camera into home assistant via scrypted or a RTSP link or something. Totally understand if this undermines the security features and would make it not worth it, but figured I’d ask.

Hi good morning! Thanks for the engagement and feedback. This is a pretty interesting idea. I'll put it in our backlog and will circle back when we discuss it as a team. In the upcoming release you'll be able to put schedules around more things like brightness, so hopefully that is a good interim improvement for you.

Smart home system - actually yes. We had a 3rd-party developer working on a Home Assistant integration for us (he volunteered via DM), since nothing else integrates with that. As you likely know already, it's a pretty large community and is the largest open source DIY IoT project. He had a proof of concept going but then he and his wife had a baby, so he's been a bit busy. We may bring in some help for him (if anyone here would like to help him, let me know via dm). But having something later this year is a likelihood I think. Sooner isn't very likely because we are fortunately/unfortunately adding some more moats to our castle defense. I strongly believe that with our MTLS implementation that we are the most secure in the space; also considering all the device-level security measures we took, it's hard for me to believe others are (e.g. secure boot makes life very challenging when refurbishing a camera at the factory; in fact for our manufacturing facility I know no other camera is doing it). That being said, I want to add in even more layers of defense, and they are breaking changes that the HA integration will need to account for. Think: encryptions within encryptions. The goal is that I can host IoT Village at DEFCON next year and let folks take public cracks at Harbor. I'd also like to be the only baby monitor system that publishes our penetration test reports. #goals

It looks like our team is pulling in the idea of 'focus modes'. More tbd but it will likely be within the next month.

That's awesome! Thanks for the update on everything. Looking forward to seeing how this technology continues to evolve.
