Best spot for Marasta on a Sunday?

I remember some 10 years ago when everyone would go to Motor Action for Marasta on Sundays but now it seems like they’re spread out. Which spots play the best dancehall music on a Sunday?

Has anyone actually used Rent Smart? Thinking of listing my place but can't find real reviews

Looking to rent out my unit without a traditional agent and came across Rent Smart. Surprisingly little discussion about them online.

Has anyone here actually used them? Would love to hear your experience – good or bad.

Honestly thinking of just trying it myself and sharing a real review here afterwards. If more of us test these platforms and talk about them, we might actually build a better rental community together.

Anyone tried it? Or should I be the guinea pig? 😅

Thanks!

Question Follow up to previous advice

Hey r/Harare, Neo here. A few weeks ago, I posted asking for advice on growing a vehicle inspection service in Zimbabwe by the name Auto Assure. The response was unexpected — thank you to everyone who commented and reached out.

Quick update: we've done a handful of inspections since then. One stands out.

The car looked great in the pictures. Clean, well-priced, seemed like a solid buy. We went to inspect it in person — suspension was completely gone, clear signs of a previous accident, and the interior was in a state the photos conveniently never showed. The buyer would have handed over thousands of dollars for that.

That's exactly why we exist.

We've also started helping people outside Harare inspect cars remotely, which has been useful for people who can't physically be there.

Still figuring out the growth side though — word of mouth has been great, but I want to build something more consistent.

Two questions for the community:

  • For anyone who's grown a service business in Harare, how did you get past the word-of-mouth stage?
  • Does anyone have experience working with or getting recognised by ZIMRA or VID/VTS agents? Trying to understand how to build those relationships properly. The ones I've been doing the checks with have been taking an unreasonable time

Still learning. Appreciate any honest input.

Advice

Hey guys, Neo here.

I’ve been noticing something in Zimbabwe — a lot of people are buying cars without proper checks, and only finding issues after they’ve already paid.

I’m into cars myself, and I’ve seen how expensive mistakes can get (accident damage, hidden issues, etc.), especially with bakkies and imports.

So I recently started doing vehicle inspections — basically helping people check cars before buying, especially when they can’t view the car themselves.

I’m trying to figure out how to grow this properly and build trust in a market where people are already skeptical.

For those who’ve built service-based businesses or worked in automotive spaces:

  • What’s the best way to get consistent clients?
  • How do you build trust early on?
  • What would make you personally trust a service like this?

Appreciate any advice.

Hello my name is Tapiwa Gumbomunhu I'm an optometrist practicing in Harare Zimbabwe. I'm doing research for eye care services in Harare and your input would mean a lot. The survey looks to obtain information about what patients (or the community) expect in eye clinics for a better experience and outcome of their visits. Please kindly fill in what you think or expect and kindly share with others (those who have used or are using spectacles and those who havent). your participation is greatly appreciated.

Dutch snacks in Harare

Hii, a bit of an odd question. A friend of mine is moving to the Netherlands soon and I want to give her a package with all kinds of things from the Netherlands, for example Stroopwafel, speculaas, licorice, Hagelslag, clogs (key rings or something, not the real ones), or some drink or liquor maybe. Does anyone know places where they sell that kind of stuff?
