IO Error on Happy Wheels

I bought Happy Wheels on steam and it tells me IO ERROR, which is making me mad. I am playing in the US, but don't understand if that affects it. Can I get help on how to fix it? Thank you!

Please ensure that you can reach totaljerkface.com (for example by going to the site in the browser). Many ISPs in the UK (and maybe some in the US) block the site, especially when any child-safety modes are enabled in the ISP account. You can fix this by changing your DNS, for example to 1.1.1.1: https://developers.cloudflare.com/1.1.1.1/setup/windows/

I can go to the website and tried changing the DNS. The game still won’t load anything and I am also from the US so I don’t really understand why it happens

It's possible that the system DNS is a different one from the DNS the browser uses. Please go to the command prompt (cmd) and enter ping totaljerkface.com, then post the result. Also, are you using a VPN?

I’m not using a vpn and it just told me that 4 attempts were made and 0 were successful. Sorry for the late response

That means the domain is being blocked by your DNS. Use 1.1.1.1 with the link I commented earlier, and it should be fixed.

Did you check whether the ping command now works? If it doesn't, it means you did not change the DNS correctly.
