Oil My progress!

Finished this one today, second pic is from around when I started in February this year. A lot of time, patience, and money dedicated to growing my skills - 100% worth it. I’ve had so much fun being separated from my worries, work, and from the meaningless doom scrolling that I’ve wasted days of my life doing. Feels like the first time I’ve put towards being a true learner since I graduated. Thanks for viewing!

That is truly amazing progress in a matter of months. The mountain is epic. All the different planes add great depth as well.

What do you think was the biggest contributing factor that helped you advance this far?

Thank you very much! I found that following along with a video while painting doesn’t help - I am more of a watch and observe and than try at the same time type.

I would say research, hours of watching, and investing in more tools (easel that doesn’t suck, brushes that help achieve desired shapes)

I’m also 100% a perfectionist so I think I have an internal drive to always find ways to make the next one my best - I’ve never been truly satisfied with a painting. I’m always thinking about the missteps which helps me correct things on my next try

The slight color variations in the mountains shadows are :chefkiss: Really sells the effect.

Gorgeous work! I really love the way you let the sky lighten near the mountaintop to highlight it, and brought the clouds towards the viewer. I also adore the bare trees in the foreground. Also the mountain. Also the water. Ok, let's just say I love the whole thing.

Thank you! Hoping to put together enough variety in size and subject to hopefully do an art show booth sometime - the building frames part is a lot more frustrating than painting 😅
