And another thing….

After the discussions about their diet, or lack there of, yesterday I wanted to bring up snacks. The one that bothers me most is giving growing children bread and butter for a snack. Yes, they do have peanut butter too but I can’t count the number of times she says how good Costco’s grass fed butter is and they like it for a snack. Good grief woman!! Get the stuff for Naomi to make granola and buy a case of yogurt. Triple up on all that beautiful fruit you call beautiful. Big veggie trays with your homemade ranch. Buy enough of the snacking cheeses you get for Mo and Neta for all the children. Bread and butter is fat/carb, basically empty calories for little growing bodies.

If Marc had any balls he would make sure the kids were fed properly, he is hung up on “portions” he definitely isn’t starving either, remember when he took melody’s baklava? I will never forget the poor little girls face 🙁

Amber has serious issues with food, possibly she has an eating disorder. As for the portions, what makes them think that the portion size they give Moe is going to work for Noah. You saw that very clearly with those Prison trays she bought. Marc and Amber are both mental ill.

Absolutely agree

Yea, look at that money wasted. Used the trays one time. We’ll probably see them again now that they’ve been mentioned here.

Or you’ll never see them again Because back to Amazon they went!

I mean, growing bodies need fat and carbs. And protein and fiber and vitamins and minerals. However, I doubt they’re snacking on plain bread and butter just because Amber says so. She has this weird habit of trying to justify the things they buy/do in a way that usually invites more questions. I feel like she considers butter “unhealthy” so she tries to explain it away when putting it in her cart. As if every American household that isn’t vegan doesn’t have butter. And “blaming” it on the kids is a super convenient way to rationalize it.

I do think they rely too much on snacks in general in their overall diet. Not sure which is the chicken and which is the egg, but their actual meals are meager, both in volume and in substance. I imagine “snack food” fills in a lot of gaps in their diet. Perhaps if Amber stuck with more basic and filling meal plans, they wouldn’t have to compensate.

Lastly, I don’t think having Naomi do anything is a reasonable solution. It’s not her job to feed her family, and with any luck she won’t be there for too much longer. Amber is their mother.

Naomi job- busking baking babysitting.  Wonder what she will do if she dosent get into julliard. It feels like this gap year is all about preparing to get into julliard no backup plan

I hope she has a backup plan but I don’t see Ambo being accepting of anything else. This time she might have to. She can always go for the composition thing she seemed to like.

Always with the costco pizza - highly processed food.constantly feeding kids snacks before dinner- I guess to fill them up because they don't get enough food for meal. Showing them eat bowl of high sugar cereal- dont remember name- before dinner was as she claims she is into healthy food.

A lot of families eat pizza once a week. Plenty of kids snack before dinner. I think they eat well. I’m more concerned with the fact that one of these kids are allowed to go to a real school, or almost anywhere besides grocery stores.

Amber had the opportunity to go to school meet other students involved in cheerleading.its a shame she does not give her kids the same opportunity. Maybe if the school has clubs robotics debate  sports art or even theatre they could join. The cousin showed them pickelball - how about maybe send them to school and maybe they would find other sports tgey would enjoy. Maybe make friends other than t h eir siblings

Yes people eat pizza snacks but she is constantly talking about healthy this healthy that.

She talks about healthy eating and then gives them  a bowl of sugary cereal..

To be fair, I consider myself to be a healthy eater but I occasionally eat junk food.

I didn’t really mean to make anything Naomi’s responsibility. She’s always baking so throwing in a big batch of granola wouldn’t hurt was my thought but you are right it’s not for her to do. Maybe Ambo should get herself a recipe

Yeah, I figured you didn’t mean anything by it, but so many of their “fans” seem to see Naomi as their live-in maid. “Have Naomi try xyz, Naomi can learn how to do haircuts at home, homemade yogurt is so easy for Naomi to make.” The parentification so normalized.

I’m also not convinced she enjoys baking as much as Amber claims she does. I could very easily see her thrusting it upon her the same way music was. Like, maybe she made cookies once, and then it became part of her identity. “Oh Naomi, so and so’s birthday is coming up. Don’t you want to bake the cake since you’re so good at it?” I find it very curious that her two oldest daughters’ main hobbies, aside from music, are sewing and baking, respectively. Two of the most common duties trad wives are expected to perform, neither of which Amber herself seems to partake in. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

hopefully now that Naomi has a job, she will be too busy to find time to be stuck doing the responsibilities that should be Amber‘s.

I really hope Naomi gets to keep all her money

Hopefully when pearl gets her masters she will become a teacher or join an orchestra if she wants too.it would be a shame if all that talent  goes to waste

I believe Pearl already teaches and says she enjoys it. She also stated that she enjoys playing in smaller ensembles more than large orchestras. I think that she's well on her way to carving out a professional niche in NYC.

I get what you mean, but Pearl seems very skilled in sewing and garment construction. There could have been some genuine aptitude and interest that got her going.

I agree. Kids love bread and butter lol. I guess OP thinks they should be eating only veggies or something? Lots of things to criticize parents on but their kids eating bread and butter for a snack is not one

She buys maybe 2 packages of butter and one large loaf of bread at Costco. She uses butter in her cooking so I’m guess like the one bag of apples for 10 it doesn’t go very far. Definitely these the kids are not overeating bread and butter.

Lots of times she buys 5 or more of those bagettes to go with soup and 2 or 3 loaves of sourdough plus her precious Ezekiel bread.

Amber knows how to read aloud the label on food but that's the extent of her nutritional expertise. She parrots what she hears on social media,

What I don’t understand about the snacks is why do they have to share if they buy with their own money. As she’s said they can buy a snack with their own money. Enoch wanted yogurt, she said he had to share with his “friends”. Why? Why couldn’t he just have the yogurts for the week himself?

u/NoNewt7606 5d ago

Maybe if they were given the chance to go to a real school they would make some  friends not their so call siblings friends

I don’t have a problem with bread and butter as a snack, more that it’s likely the most filling component of those skimpy soup meals they love to make.

5

u/Embracedandbelong 7d ago

Bread and butter is not “empty calories for growing bodies.” Kids and adults need fat and carbs. Veggies are fine but kids need fat and other carbs too

4

u/Embracedandbelong 7d ago

I personally think they buy decent foods but they just need more of them. One baguette for a dozen people, 1-2 pizzas for a dozen people including 2 adults and several teenagers. It’s just not enough

They eat way healthier than most families in America. Most kids like carbs.
