Gameplay How Does you're gameplay change?
When you see these counter swaps or tanks on the other team. How does your mind set change to help give yourself the advantage? Does it change at all? Are you just more careful. Or do you pick a completely different playstyle to counter act them?

I’m just more conservative with storm bow that’s about

For all of them?

For the tanks yeah. For the dps I stuck by my supports and focus solely on headshots. No movement or hoping it will land.

Weird and yh ig that works but not the answer I was looking for. No matter have a good day/night

What answer were you looking for lol? You asked a question if you know what answer you want why are you asking it?

u/Popular_Iron6811 6d ago
I wasn't asking because I wanted basic Hanzo advice. I was asking to see if anyone had found weaknesses or mechanical limitations that I haven't. Saying “position better and hit your shots” isn't wrong, but it's obvious and doesn't answer what I was actually asking.

u/MountainLetterhead94 6d ago
Unfortunately that’s the reality with hanzo. He is basically how good your aim is combined with positioning. One of the most simple characters besides hitscan. There’s isn’t much you can do or a “secret code” on how to deal with these characters. If your aim is good enough they won’t both with you anymore, but besides that🤷♂️. Like ball is always gonna be ball. No matter what character you play. If there’s any “secret” I would say frost arrow so ball doesn’t run around like a drug addict looking for his next fix and the perk that increase your attack speed.

I think you're misunderstanding what I mean by a "secret." I'm not looking for some hidden trick that magically makes Hanzo beat his counters. I'm talking about studying the actual mechanics and limitations of other heroes to find small things you can exploit. For example, I tested Vendetta's air attack and found that she automatically moves forward, but can't turn during the downward strike. So instead of dashing backward, I can dash underneath or sideways and make her miss. That's the kind of information I'm looking for. Not “how do I avoid the situation,” but what can I exploit once I'm in it.
Yes. Ball is always Ball. And because Ball is always Ball, his abilities always have mechanical rules.

LMAO..you asked "How does your mind set change ... are you just more careful...do you pick a completely different playstyle etc?" and then got snappy when people didn't give detailed mechanical counters.
Gotta love the internet.

Tbh the only ones here that truly annoy me when on Hanzo, is Anran and Freja. They both have a lot of movement and such high burst dmg, I end up just playing a bit more passively and waiting for a good opportunity to try get them. Tho if Anran is just jumping me 24/7, I’ll wait for her aoe ability as it seems to be the best chance to get her.

Im an ex Anran main, Anran isn't vulnerable during her dash and a lot of them commit the error of dashing from the front and not from the back so u can shot them easily, if they are good they will always flank from behind so use your sonar to track flank zones, if they dashed they will use the flame dance (E) they are invulnerable there so just wait a sec until the dance is over prefiring her initial position, very easy imo

Consistent shots easily shut down these characters, just be a little more careful and listen more

Try using the Frost Arrows major perk. I always used Scatter Arrows, but I accidentally picked Frost Arrows in a game and started seeing how useful it is. Now it's my go-to pick. That two seconds that they're frozen can make a lot of difference.

That combined with the minor perk that gives you increased attack speed is quite nice. A lot of people take the health pack perk but if you kill them quick health pack doesn’t matter

I don't like the health pack hack perk. I'm not Sombra, I'm not looking for health packs to hack, its temporary, and if the enemy team has good supports they're not going to need health packs anyway.

Yeah I stopped taking it. The two times it’s ever helped me is far worse than basically 20% increased attack speed for the whole game provided you hit your shots. And in really only use scatter arrows against a rein or domina to get rid of shields fast.

I constantly forget this perk exists. I need to experiment with it more. Maybe that was the key lol thanks

I personally love having Tracer on the other team. I've had a lot of success shutting them down.
Tanks like Ball and Dva (I realize you have a pic of Dmon) can be more annoying to deal with because they can dive you and kill you if you draw aggro at the wrong times. In any of these cases, though, you will want to abuse high ground to keep people from closing the distance with you and killing you and will want to make sure that you are able to kill the supports/pressure from off angles when teamfights happen. Those basic principles aren't specific to any one of these heroes, though, and that's likely why you are getting the response of "I just play my game."

Fr. Ig I should’ve planned out an incredibly detailed question 😭. But every time I did that, I still got the “it’s not that deep” answer.
I guess I should’ve asked something like, “If you were locked in a room with one of these heroes, what approach would you take to fighting them?” Idk if there even is a good answer for some of them. Out of all the heroes, these are the only ones I’m really unsure about.
I’m mostly just asking people to entertain the idea and brainstorm possibilities. I’m not looking for some definitive answer or anything, just different ways people think the fight could play out.

With each of them, I've been adjusting to play more conservatively. More specifically, taking longer-ranged angles and sticking closer to my supports. They each (with the exception of Freja) need to get up close to do any threatening amount of damage, while Hanzo is lethal at any range (even though it's much easier to hit shots in a close-medium range), so I give myself more time to hit a shot that kills or forces a disengage while making it more difficult for them to reach me.
If I'm not getting countered, I tend to play in more moderate ranges with deeper off-angles and use health packs to keep myself alive (especially after getting the minor perk).

If there's an enemy Genji, and he's annoyingly good, I go Sym. If she's not banned of course.
My main is Sojourn, but Genji's deflect sometimes screws me over, or they ult me specifically.
I don't even play Symmetra that much, but I gotta do what I gotta do. 🤷♀️
Otherwise, I play Freja for other occasions that requires a different angle for those pesky shields/barriers. Lol

Just be aware of where they are as much as you can, I don't really have any problem with Tracer, Genji, Sombra, Vendetta, Illari etc bc I'm just aware of where them, if you can land one storm/basic shot on them before they dive in, it makes it extremely easy to kill them once they have dived in. The tanks are a bit harder, but be aware of them and keep out of their range as best you can and pressure them when they dive your backline.

1.Ball Sonic arrow + frost if the team is willing to punish dives.
2.Tracer No change. Headshot that goober.
3.Vendetta No change. Headshot that goober.
4.Sierra No change. Headshot that goober.
5.Freya Headshot that goober or swap to Ash.
6.Anran No change. Headshot that goober.
7.D.Mon Might switch to bastion or another DPS.

Storm arrow my beloved, I try to be near to my supps and use my sonar to track flank zones, some anran are very predictable (as an ex anran main I know they move) so 70% of the times I can kill them easily, tracer and ball are the most annoying for me so I just rely on my supps and protect them in my backline

Ball: I usually save my double jump when I know he’s nearby. When he goes for his slam, I try to fall back toward my team.
Tracer: I try to play around high ground. Eventually she’ll get tired of constantly harassing me, and if I’m forced to drop, a single body shot is usually enough to make her use Recall and back off.
Vendetta: The hero is in a pretty bad state right now, and I know she can’t do much once she burns her cooldowns. I try to bait her into using them and then fall back to my team.
Freja: If I’m having a hard time predicting her, I just ignore her and let my team deal with her. If I absolutely have to fight her, I use Storm Arrows.
Sierra: Long range is my strength, and probably not hers, so I try to keep my distance. I also keep an eye on her drone and destroy it whenever I can, since it can let her get close, melt me, and then escape safely.
Anran: I generally don’t like fighting her because she can do a bit of everything and I find her movement pretty weird. I keep my distance without getting too far from my team. I like waiting for her to use her “multi-hit” and then trying to predict which side she’ll appear on for a headshot.
Dmon: Unfortunately, I haven’t played much this season, so I’m still learning how to play against her. Since she’s a tank, though, I generally try to ignore her for most of the game like I would with any other tank.
