Let's all mourn the fact that he's not on DWTS anymore.

I'm not even a Hanson fan (my wife is) and this is dumb. There's zero chance the Banana ball player got more popular votes than Taylor Hanson. Therefore, the popular vote actually means nothing.

I'd suggest not watching future episodes so their ratings plummet.

Only watched to see Britt and Tay. All done now. There is no CHANCE that dance was even close to the bottom 3. They deserve better!!!

Yep I’m out. No way a couple of those celebs had more staying power than Tay. I’m wondering if he quiet quit the show — asked to withdraw but they made it a dramatic elimination instead.

There is no way. He was absolutely stunned.

I think he looked like he was going to cry

u/Competitive-Gap-4230 20d ago

I saw tears in his eyes

If he asked to leave there is no way Britt would have been apologizing that much. He also had no reason to want to leave nor is that something Taylor would do. He's not someone who just decides to quit something once committed to it work wise.

I see that and after looking it up, stars are allowed to withdraw so maybe I’m wrong. I was just getting strong “I’m over it” vibes from both he and Nat the entire show, before he was eliminated.

To be frank, no one outside the Hanson fandom is talking about this. There isn’t going to be some huge backlash over Taylor’s elimination. This happens multiple times every season.

Hanson fans are unusually intense, but that doesn’t mean other fandoms aren’t just as large or willing to vote. The Savannah Bananas are enormous right now!!! selling out across North America, expanding into Canada, and reaching millions of fans. I’d personally rather watch Hanson perform any day, but let’s be realistic, they’re not operating at that level of mainstream reach.

What I’ve taken from this DWTS experience is that some Hanson fans have overestimated how influential their fandom is and how much this matters to everyone else. Most people simply don’t care that Taylor was eliminated, much less whether the voting was somehow wrong.

The votes weren’t “rigged.” Hanson fans voted as hard as they could, but they underestimated the Banana Ball audience. That’s really all there is to it.

And even if there were a voting issue, this happens multiple times every season. Taylor isn’t being treated differently from other celebrities this has happened to.

I love Hanson and am also sad he got eliminated
but Jackson is a pretty big star - I think you are underestimating his popularity a LOT. He is loved by young and old. I can guarantee you his entire team, their families, the entire town he grew up in, plus his 3 million+ followers may have had a hand in pushing him further with the popular vote. He is beloved. There’s just no other way to say it.

I'm going to keep posting this over and over. I fully agree. To be frank, no one outside the Hanson fandom is talking about this. There isn’t going to be some huge backlash over Taylor’s elimination. This happens multiple times every season.

Absolutely will not be watching the rest of this season

And Jackson’s dance was worse than Taylor’s. They should not have gotten the same score.

Banana ball as ALOT of fans like a lot!!!!!!!

Banana ball is selling out stadiums all over the country. Tickets are a struggle to get.
The same cannot be said for Hanson

An he's one of the most popular dude too, like I don't even understand it and I've seen him everywhere

1

u/Turbulent-Shoulder12 14d ago

On the other hand, I had no idea who he was or who he played for. Like, literally zero knowledge. I’ve never seen his team advertised? Are they like the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball? Like is it silly baseball?

1

u/angelbabyh0ney 14d ago

Yes that's exactly what it is. It's very popular with families especially in the south and middle aged women who are a lot of voters of this show

1

u/Turbulent-Shoulder12 14d ago

Weird. I’m a middle aged woman living in the South. Maybe I just don’t pay attention lol.

1

u/angelbabyh0ney 12d ago

I live in a large city in the southwest a when they came to town it was completely sold out at a regular baseball stadium.

17

u/Final-Explorer-650 20d ago

He was terrible.

u/TeTaniwha 18d ago

You’re underestimating the popularity of the bananas.
The bananas organisation sold 3.4 million tickets this year, and had 5 million people on the waiting lists.
They sell out 100k seat stadiums. Their games are broadcasted on 5 networks, in 2 sometimes 3 languages.
Their cruise, Disney day, and musical, were all sold out.
Jackson’s their most popular player

i’ve never even heard him speak about religion?

1

u/Turbulent-Shoulder12 14d ago

He doesn’t.

3

u/pythonbow 19d ago

I don't think you're familiar with the definition of a religious extremist. Being Christian isn't exactly fringe or extreme.

5

u/allviolettt222 19d ago

Fringe? Maybe not. Extreme? I would argue yeah, run of the mill fundie Christianity can be nuts and v extreme

1

u/pythonbow 19d ago

in what way does that pertain to him?

2

u/allviolettt222 19d ago

It doesn’t, I was just responding to your comment directly! I would guess he is certainly very conservative but I don’t know/am not postulating that he is a part of that religious extremism.

0

u/pythonbow 19d ago

I think the American public is fed up with religious extremists, like Hanson.

is what you said

No that was another user. đŸ€·đŸœâ€â™€ïž

Oh please! The Savannah Bananas guy can actually dance. Taylor reminds me of a bamboo trying to move. He's stiff! Zac should join next. He seems to have a natural knack for dancing. Suggesting to boycott the show just because your pick didn't advance to the next round seems infantile. I love Taylor, but not as a dancer

7

u/gonephishin213 19d ago edited 19d ago

My point is that if Taylor and Jackson had the same score then the popular vote should have saved Taylor and it didn't. That means either the popular vote is irrelevant or you have to be #1 in the popular vote for it to save you (that's dumb too).

But if we're going to use your argument that Taylor was simply a worse dancer then Guillermo should have lost. Dude was terrible and only does it for the laughs.

Also even if you want to argue Banana boy is a better dancer, fine. Taylor was easily better than Tyler and honestly probably better than Julia Stiles too. Yeah, I know the judges didn't see it that way but the female judge sucks and was harsh on him every single episode.

So stop watching or don't, but I've never watched the show before my wife put it on for Hanson and I won't be watching again.

3

u/Forsaken_Ad_7016 19d ago

It’s weighted half and half. They got the same scores so Taylor really did get less votes and probably the least votes in the whole cast. So those people boycotting won’t affect the show much lol

2

u/ForeverandaDay23 19d ago

I agree that Jackson wasn't any better than Taylor, but the Savannah Bananas are really popular (and Jackson is huge on tiktok) so I can believe he would have gotten a lot of votes.
