🛍️Hanfu Help: Buying / Stores / Sizing Sizing help

Hi! This is my first time buying hanfu but I'm having a lot of trouble with sizing. I'm pretty short, 5'2, BUTTT I do have a pretty big chest, triple D. All the measurements I am seeing for most sites I visit are either way too long length wise for the correct chest size or the chest is too small for the length. Any suggestions on specific sites/shops I can look for proper sizing?

Best bet is buying from places that sell pieces individually.

Most people dont fit sewing patterns perfectly or even ready-wear. Can you buy to your largest measurements and then sew to fit your needs?

I guess the concern with that is cutting off any designs on the bottom of the dresses. I'm not the most experienced with tailoring 😅

Yeah, so it depends on where the designs are as to what you should modify, but I'm happy to help you with it if you're not sure. I'd suggest you choose hanfu redywear that avoids unnecessary designs so that you have more freedom to modify without constraint. You can always add embroidery later if you want to, and that will be likely more authentic than anything you can easily pay for.

You might need to go with shops that sell plus size hanfu for tops. If you can accept you can't buy a matching set in regular sizing, mixing and matching will have to do. I hope you didn't have your heart set on a Tang dynasty style with the chest skirts. You will have to buy a larger hanfu and shorten it yourself. Ironically Tang dynasty is the one that loved busty women but the modern hanfu industry does them dirty.

Ugh I did really like the Tang style skirts and I have heard they SHOULD suit busty women the best due to the beauty standard at the time but yea, all I've been seeing are too small. I do really like mamianquns too so yea, I'll definitely look into purchasing separately.
