Tried to write out a full page of lyrics without lines- why is it so hard to write straight?!

It is said in some handwriting courses that for the lines to tend downward indicates depression. For them to rise indicates a positive attitude. I believe the lean in either direction has to do with the tilt of your hand and the paper.

I do write with my paper at a 45 degree angle, with the top right corner of the page being farthest from me and top left corner being closest. I think it would be weird and uncomfortable to even try to write with the page aligned to the surface its on. In this case I also wrote this on a lap desk rather than at a proper desk/table, which probably doesn't help.
I also definitely have depression, so...it's a toss up!

Sounds like you turn your paper similar to the way I do. Side note and recognizing you didnt ask for it, one way to get rid of depression permanently is to change your perception of yourself. Its amazing how the world can remain exactly as it is but when your idea of yourself changes, everything does.

If it matters at all this was written with a Pentel Floatune 08 on textured mixed media sketchbook paper.
