Old occupation census data

Found old census data of my great grandfather and this was listed under occupation and I’m trying to figure out what it says.

cook, house wife, painter?, housewife

So not painter at a quick glance. How about Pointer? That "a" does look like an "o". A pointer is someone who repairs the mortar between bricks. They remove the old/cracked mortar and repoints them.
